NGD: Epiphone Casino
so... long story short, i tried one over a decade ago and loved it, but went home to think about it... and when i went back the next day, it was gone. my luck as a lefty i suppose.
i walked into the shop the other day, and there was one hanging on the wall. it's one of the new chinese made ones (which i honestly never thought i'd buy...but) so i sat down with it for a little bit, and i took it home.
going through a major Beatles phase right now also doesn't help
it's a great sounding and feeling guitar, and is really well made. i'm quite impressed actually! it needs a minor setup, but nothing huge, which usually isn't the case when you pull a guitar off the rack.

Nice! Definitely one on my long term "must have" list even though it never seems to be an immediate priority. Similar to you I've played a few over the years and always liked them, it's just not my usual "thing" so it hasn't led me to grab one yet.
And you find out life isn't like that

This describes my life almost to the letter (I’m not a lefty.) Picked mine up this past August and as happy with it now as I was the day I got it, it’s a fantastic guitar.BlixaFan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 7:41 amso... long story short, i tried one over a decade ago and loved it, but went home to think about it... and when i went back the next day, it was gone. my luck as a lefty i suppose.

True. Chinese factories produce what they are asked to produce - when companies want them to churn out cheap corner-cutting junk, they can do it. But Chinese factories also produce Apple products which are among the highest quality-controlled commercial products in the world. There's no inherent reason to think that they can't produce good quality items. I'm surprised that nobody has (at least I'm unaware of it if it has happened) asked them to start producing hand-wired guitar amps. They've got the hands and they produce the wire, so what's keeping them? It's not rocket science, after all...

You must have missed my thread in the amps section..Also Vox, i believe makes some handwired amps there.mjet wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 6:56 pmTrue. Re: NGD: Epiphone Casino
well as many of us have experienced, my love affair with the Casino has passed. the honeymoon phase didn't last super long, and really i just don't play or write anything that warrants a semihollow/hollowbody guitar.
it's a nice guitar to look at at this point, but I am not really into keeping guitars just for the sake of it.
no sentimental value, not a vintage Casino bought at a steal... so.....
I traded it for a well-loved Black Beauty Les Paul that I might go pick up shortly (or tomorrow..probably tomorrow)
