New Guitar Day (kinda) -- MJT Tele
This is KINDA a new guitar day because it's a new body with new hardware. I had the neck already on a different guitar. That guitar was cursed though.
I'd been wanting to get a new Tele body for a while now, and I finally convinced my wife to let me do it. I was going to custom order an MJT body, but then this one popped up on ebay and I thought it was gorgeous. Pine, light relic, 3lb, 6oz. Went with the MJT hardware to match too, which looks great and isn't overdone with the relic thing.
The neck I put on this is a WD all rosewood neck, it's about an inch thick, so real chonky and comfortable.
Currently I only have a bridge pickup installed because I'm waiting on a set of Bootstrap pickups to deliver. So right now this has a Duncan Broadcaster, which i don't entirely love. But even that being said, it still sounds really nice plugged in.
Total weight of the guitar? 7lb, 1oz. A featherweight if I've ever seen one.

Hot pickup, light body, and a stripped neck pickup? Buddy you got yourself a hot rod there.
I really dig that neck too.

The pickup does sound great, actually. I was playing around with it last night, and the volume and tone knobs are super responsive. I'm still going to put in the new set (neck + bridge) when they arrive though. I love that middle position.

Not gonna lie - my favorite tele bridge pickups tend towards ones voiced like Broad/No/real early Tele pickups. Nice mids and a bit of grind without sounding too 'modern'. They don't have the same glassy cleans as the late 50s/early 60s units, but they still twang some.

I'll stick one in a Strat to make the bridge usable, I'll stick one in a Tele to make it rock, and I might honestly stick one in my Mustang for shits and giggles because a Mustang with Tele pickups is a mental image that brings me great joy.

I have a Bootstrap Palo Duro coming for the bridge, and a Pretzel (their version of the twisted tele pickup) in the neck. So I think that bridge pickup is a bit more "traditional" tele. We'll see what happens.

Also, I'm apparently a sucker for this color scheme.

That's what I thought too. It's a classy sunburst. I like that it fades out to brown, and that the relic-ing isn't crazy.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 6:47 pmThey did such a good job on that finish. A classy sunburst

Congrats on the Tele.
Did you add the Bigsby to the Yamaha SL? Love the burst.

MJT can do some fantastic work. I'm more a fan of metallics but that is a really really good looking sunburst.
