With all the love going around here for 335s maybe it's about time for a photo thread.

Here's the one I kept, it's a 2019 Dot:

Image

I was a little nervous since it was the first year that Gibson was making the ES series in the Nashville plant instead of Memphis, where they had been making them for decades prior.

But I preferred it (slightly) to this 2018 Traditional, that was made in the Memphis plant during the last year of production there:

And it was such a slight preference that when I offered to sell one of them, I was giving people a choice as to which one they wanted so I didn't have to make a decision.

I later found I had put a ding in the Dot there, so it would have been a slightly harder sell, also I realized I had been calling that Dot "Hope" in my mind for a while and had grown sentimental about it pretty quickly.

Looking at that top picture makes me remember that I was happy then and how much I am looking forward to fall!

Oh, and it's not so much that I matured as it is that I got some money!

I've had two Japan-market Epiphones--a 335 and a Shinichi Ubukata 355, both of which were good. In fact the 355 was among the best finished guitars I've seen but also really heavy. My current 335 is a Memphis 2018 "Anchor Stud" model. It may have established a permanent place for itself or a similar guitar.

Quoted for truth!
:D

This guitar is basically all I play anymore. The nice thing about offsets is how beautifully tailored to the body they are, but the physical act and fight of shoving this thing around is extremely rewarding in a different way.
8)

It's one of the matte, trans black models with an ever-changing light and grainy/black colour, depending on the light. It's very worn in and feels like a 50 year old guitar. It lived the first decade of its life as a session guitar in a studio that put lots of miles on it. They decided to sell it on after a (classic) tragic headstock break. Fortunately, I knew where it was repaired and they do great work. If I never mentioned the break, most people wouldn't even notice. I was actually looking for one with a repair (to save money/heartache), so it worked out perfectly.

Nice... I love the trapeze on there, you basically turned it into a semi-hollow ES-330 it occurs to me.

This thread is killing me.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

:D Exactly.

Thank you. All those years of playing Jazzmasters has kind of wrecked me, I think. If it doesn't have strings ringing out behind the bridge, it just doesn't feel right. And BOY do the strings on this ring. These guitars are ridiculously resonant!

That's exactly why I bought that ES-330 above! And I would have preferred a trapeze loaded 335, also.

Those are all gorgeous. I'd love to hear what a trapeze sounds like on one of these.

I'm new to, and somewhat accidentally a part of, this club, but my 335 has made a very positive impression on me very quickly.
