NGD: p90 Les Paul
I don't do a lot of new guitar day posts, but I've been on the hunt for this one for a while now. I've been wanting a good p90 loaded Les Paul for a long time but I don't have the cash for a Custom Shop or Historic and while I like gold tops, I really wanted a black one. That doesn't leave a lot of options. I found out that there was a run of Classics from 2018 that checked all the boxes. This one already had a Vibrate and a good USA made Bigsby which saved me a nice chunk as I would've done that anyway. It's otherwise all stock. They used regular solder terminal pots and no pcb in them, and no phase switching or anything like that... nice and simple, just how I like it. It is not weight relieved either and it is a real pig. I didn't weigh it yet but it weighs more than my '79 Travis Bean TB1000S. That doesn't bother me though but it does take a little getting used to the more neck heavy feel of the Travis Bean and my two SGs. The fretwork and finishing is really good. The neck feel is a bit chunkier than I expected for the '60s taper but it is very comfortable. They rolled the binding edges a little bit and it feels great. Overall I am super pleased with it. I might do a BWBWB pick guard with a wide bevel but I'm not sure yet.

That's incredible, I've almost bought one of those more times than I can think.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

That's basically the exact type of LP I find appealing. Looks like it's begging for a staple neck pickup, if you ask me.
Congrats, it's a beauty.

I‘m getting strong Neil Young vibes here!
Beautiful guitar!
I still have a soft spot in my heart for Les Pauls too - as they have been my first electric love!
Love the rawness of my Honeyburst 60s tribute - but I wish it had binding... as something is missing without it... and I play it so infrequently I can‘t justify another one!

Very cool! If I could only have one Gibson guitar it would be a Les Paul with P90s!

Thanks everybody! I’m really thrilled with how good it is. I’ve long lamented parting with my old ‘91 Studio, but this one cured that.

This is tremendously cool looking! I don’t think I’ve craved a (non-Jr.) like this for many years, but here we go! Enjoy it in good health!

That is a clean machine! I've always wanted a goldtop but that is special.

Whew God, that's a beautiful LP. The P90s, the black on black livery, the Bigsby... just delectable. Enjoy it in good health!
