Pretty good compilation, though they left out some ringers, like The Connells, Arms Akimbo (their song “The Voice” is a classic), The Reivers, Miracle Legion, Love Tractor, Guadalcanal Diary, The Individuals, etc.

How many of them were in the band?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Thanks. Didn't make it that far down on the bandcamp track list.

Contrary to the math and the image, their bandcamp image shows four members :P

Pickup question...

So I was comparing my friend's 2018 620 to my tele and JM thru my '67 bassman head today (clean thru the normal ch). I wasn't into it as much. I liked it better through my Roland Cube 60

The High Gain pickups (adjustable magnets) sounded great on the plain strings but the wound strings reminded me of Filtertrons where the notes aren't as defined as say on a tele. Would I like some proper toasters better?

I could see the HGs working better with some overdrive and with a Vox AC15/30

My question would be were you using the neck pickup or bridge, or both? You have so many tonal options on a 620, it seems like you should be able to dial something in that's pretty nice/close to your JM. I happen to think Ric Hi-Gains are some of the best pickups around, and I've never cared much for toasters. Your mileage may vary of course, but I've always been disappointed when checking out the toasters.

I like the Hi-Gains so much I installed them in my Jazzmaster. I get 99% of the sound I had dialed with the 620 and none of the ergonomic issues the neck gave me. Now, if I could find a 620 with a taper and a soft-v, that would be another story...

I went through the whole range. I'll try again with my Deluxe Reverb when I have time.

How far away do you have your pickups from the strings on the jazzmaster?

As far as I can get them. They are cranked down. 8) Measuring from the metal surround it's about 5mm from the treble string on each pickup. Would probably dig it if I could get some more clearance but then I'd have to route it out.

Ahhhh ok, thanks!. I think I have them too close to the strings on the 620. I can't them them much lower, there's a layer of foam and the screws feel like they're as tight as they're going to get.
