Wonderful score, Yannis. I’ve always wanted to put some hours in on an Esquire. I’ve contemplated gutting the few Teles I’ve had, but never got around to it.
Enjoy!

I would definitely try one if you get a chance, they are very rewarding guitars. :)

Thanks Justin!!

It very quickly stormed its way into my top 3 favourite guitars of all time ('56 Les Paul Custom, '43 Martin 000-28 and this one)...just an incredible instrument. I was playing it all day yesterday. :-* 8)

Between an Esquire and an LP with P90s, I’m not sure there’s much more that I would really need. I got one of those 50s lacquer Telecasters a few years ago and stuffed a couple Duncan’s into it. Every time I pick it up (which is often), I can’t believe how great it sounds. That bridge pickup is just so pure. Like there’s nothing in between pure sound and your fingers. I love it!! I can’t play well enough to justify the real deal, but I can live vicariously through you :D !!

Wow! Congrats! What a find. :-* :-* :-*

Seems like this post slipped my radar too but here now to say what an amazing guitar! Is it lightweight? Curious now that you've had it a bit what you think about the sound or playability? Anything surprise you about this one? Assume it's had a refret?

I've been piecing together various Tele and even Esquire parts guitars over the last year or more with some good success but still haven't found that magic combo just yet....but it's been a fun journey. Echo the sentiment on how pure sounding these are. Missed having a tele type for a while. Seeing guitars like this one keeps me going.

Thanks everyone!

It is a very responsive, clear sounding guitar. It resonates like crazy and the neck feels so solid...like it is fossilised wood or something.

It is a bit over 7 pounds, if I remember correctly, and it has had a refret, so it plays effortlessly...the pickup has great output. The neck, compared to the Esquire clone I put together with a Musikraft neck and also compared to the Fender Custom Shop 50s sparkle Tele I had for a while is waaaaaay nicer, a thinner soft V that is addictive to play. My hybrid picking has come a long way ever since I got this one, it just begs to be played in that style.

These 50s Fender guitars are definitely very expensive, and I could never swing it under normal circumstances, but thankfully I had accumulated tons of cool reissue guitars over the past few years that I sold to make this one happen. No regrets! 8)

It fascinates me that some radio engineer in a shed in California somehow made some of the greatest guitars of all time, right off the bat. I mean I know he had input from players and a killer workforce who were great woodworkers, but it's not like he learned the craft from some master luthier in Seville. I totally believe they are that good. I just can't fathom how he did it. I guess there were folk who tried and didn't get it quite as right, and that's why we are all playing Fenders instead of Bigsbys or even Rickenbackers.
What a beast, so beautiful because it's all function.

I 100% agree...it almost makes no sense how he got it so right with the first attempt...if he had just stopped there it would have been more than enough. :D
