Collings!
I was going to say this !
Jumping in on the Collings vote.
I would have to have sold Enzo to afford it.

The new guitar is far more affordable!

I'm surprised it wasn't the Collings!

I'm gonna go out of left field, Dunable?

2nd guess a Hamer Standard.
Never heard of Dunable!

My second guitar ever was this 1981 Hamer Special:

Plays and sounds great! I like the trem, too. Genuine surprise for me. Beefy neck and scale length are pretty comfy. Great value for money.

I would never have guessed that in a million years.

My experience with my Vela opened my eyes to the fact that PRS builds exceptional guitars. I would have kept the vela if it wasn't a redundant guitar and if the PRS headstock wasn't a bizarrely powerful turn-off for me. Maybe I should have kept it - the neck was superlative.

How did you come across this one?

If I ever get a PRS, it’ll definitely be a DGT in white or gold. They play great and the DGT pickups are NICE! Enjoy it in good health!

For the record, I get the dislike of the headstock shape, but with the double-cut models like the DGT, it visually makes quite a bit of sense to me in the way that it mirrors the lines of the body of the guitar.

That’s a nice guitar!

It was one of three at Lidgett’s, in Council Bluffs. I picked the lightest one and put some gold Gibson knobs on it, that reminded of my Hamer Sunburst.

That's the way to do it - play the guitar and buy it if you connect with it.

I never thought of it that way.

I'll say two positive things about the headstock on my former Vela. 1) Straight string pull is more important than the looks of the headstock, so it's a better 3+3 design than most Gibsons, and 2) They put locking tuners on everything, and it's the type with the knob on top of the post, so string changes are near-instant, which is something I really appreciate.

My Vela even had a top-mount bridge where you hook the ball end into the plate, so the break angle was like a string-through but every step of a string change could be done with the guitar flat on a workbench (or wherever).

It's a minor detail, but not having to lift and flip a guitar around, bust out a capo or use wire cutters just to string the damn thing is a very nice user experience.
