Can you build us a foam castle?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I've already had 3 people (including you) message to say the same thing you're the only UK one though so you're kinda top of the list after my mate Gary - but he says that about every guitar I buy hahahaJamesSGBrown wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:44 amOoof Johnny. Yeah, they are lovely. That foam seemed to spring from every goddamn orifice when I unpacked it...thankfully it's garbage day here.
Ergh I know. I've unknowingly crept back from 3 to 6 electrics. The Hello Kitty Strat I'm kind of not counting though as that's more of a fun thing to own rather than play. I was toying with having it as a living room guitar as it's quite small-bodied overall.
There's no room for a rack of any kind anywhere in my house - wall hangers are the only saviour. Here's the spare room that is a double office, workbench, storage AND music room...
I'm more about having a FOAM PARTY!

This is probably the most accurate picture of the colour I've managed to get. It's still greener IRL but this is close...

You know. I don‘t like normal Teles very much. But for some reason (which could be John Frusciante) I really dig the double bound ones (as well as the big pickguard 70s ones and some of the Thinline models) - yours are prime examples! Great colors too!

It took me a long time to get into Teles. I actually bought my first one about 8 years ago from a friend. It's just a cheap Affinity Squier and I think I gave it to a friend in the end.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 10:35 pmYou know. I don‘t like normal Teles very much. Teles can really vary...my first one was a black maple neck Squire one in the mid 90s that I bought new...it really wasn't a great guitar and I quickly sold it.
It took me probably about 20 years to try another one, and now the Tele/Esquire it is my #2 favourite electric guitar right behind the Les Paul.

A Tele and a Les Paul can do it all between them.
Johnny- what’s that white LPJ I spy hanging up?

That's an Epiphone Jr, one of the bolt-on neck ones, that actually belongs to forum member simonhpieman on here. I can't actually remember for what reason it got left at my house. I've done a full setup on it out of boredom....I think it's just having a holiday here until the next time we see each other

That's a very, very nice looking Tele! Plus enough foam for Jag mutes and pickup height to last multiple life times
I hope it sounds really really bad through your Bassman

Fair enough. I used to exclusively do wall hangers for a good 10 years or so, because I had no storage room to spare.JSett wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:33 pmErgh I know. I'm not so sure about your logic re: the Hello Kitty guitar taking up less room than your Teles, though. I've put Strats and Teles in the same case, and other than the comfort carves, they're volumetrically equivalent. But I 100% understand the "guitar math" that "inexpensive guitar = doesn't really count."
That's part of my problem. I keep finding crazy deals that I just can't pass up. My cheapest four guitars cost me less, combined, than what I typically spent on average for a single guitar.
The only downside to them is that they still take up as much space as my 4 most expensive guitars, and require the same level of maintenance in terms of restringing etc.
That's actually why I switched to Elixirs years ago. They make broken strings a more expensive problem than they used to be, but I'd probably be spending as much time restringing as playing if I had to keep up with regular strings on everything. I really don't like the sound of dead strings.
You've been making me want a Tele again, after letting two nice ones go not that long ago. I never learn my lesson - I just don't like the ergonomics of the bridge and body shape, but I love the sound and the directness of the way they respond.

Re: NGD: 2002-ish AVRI Custom Telecaster OTM
I agree that the body shape of the Tele is pretty damn uncomfortable... especially the bound ones! The bridge I universally hate unless it's a cut-down one like these. I tend to play pretty close to the bridge and the sidewalls of a classic Tele bridge are brutal - many a drop of blood spilled on those horrible things.
The Jazzmaster will always be the first thing I pick up to play at home but the directness, or immediacy as I call it, of its sound works near perfect for the band so I have to concede somewhat and move them to those duties. I've just got back from band practice and I only took the BMM Tele...and it sounded fantastic.

Re: NGD: 2002-ish AVRI Custom Telecaster OTM
Hah! I've always been a contrarian and I'm not ashamed of it. And Gary knows me all too well. I love having a vibrato too much for a Tele to become my main guitar for 99% of my playing (at home) but I can make do without it for live use.
Tonight is the first night in about 20 years I'll be leaving to play a gig and NOT bringing a Jazzmaster or Jaguar with me I was going to take the Misty and the JM and use the JM as backup...but I know what I'm like and I'll just end up falling straight back into just going with the predicable option. So I'm forcing my own hand.
