Nice find! If you are gonna refinish it, I always thought that a Red Special would be amazing in a purple sparkle

Glad it's just the finish. Red sparkle sounds pretty awesome to me.

Red sparkle sounds awesome but im not sure anymore I want to sink money on it.
What I'm maybe considering is, stripping it, using some sort of rub on clear that can eventually polished to a glass like finish?
Maybe even adding some sort of amber.?
Not sure what the paint stripper would do to the binding though, would that get all messed up? To the googles!
Or i just leave alone, just a fret level and play as is.

You should be able to glue that piece of chipped finish on with CA glue - it’ll need some work to clean up the edges but if you’re careful will be near invisible. Maybe a hobby shop would have the water-thin stuff and you can wick it in once you’ve taped it in place.

I threw it away. I didn't want to glue it back, the finish is brittle in that area, so i smoothed it out just a bit and polished it Didn't touch any of the wood underneath.
If the guitar plays as i hope it will after a fret level, ill decide. It is a nice vintage guitar, and it probably deserves to be restored.
