I have the opprtunity to buy a Univox Lucy
it is modded and now has a TOM and stop-bar tailpiece
the pickguard isn't original too, and it has a gibson-ish pup in middle position.
the lucite and the neck seem to be in good shape
here's some pics
the seller give the original pick-ups and the original pickguard and switch.
how much would you give to such a guitar ?

That looks pretty cool, definetly time to bone up on your Rolling Stones and/or Black Flag covers... or better yet.. combine them... Rolling Flag!
As for worth, I dunno, 350-400$ maybe? There's a univox website that pops up on google early on that has like... suggested prices.

that sounds more than fair. I think the dan armstrong ones go for $1000+, so half that is fine.
Maybe 400 Euro?
I'd pay at least $500 if I saw one.

no, it had a different kind of bridge and there's a channel for the ground wire. You could easily ask to buy it for less because it doesn't have the original bridge.

I've seen one in original configuration and mint condition with case at 1099$
I'll try to get the modded one for less than the price he asks

I'd ask how much it weighs - I've heard those lucite things are back-breakers.

I've seen and played a couple of these Dan Armstrong copies - a Univox and a Conrad. Both were cool guitars, though very heavy. In their original configuration they had two pickups directly adjacent to one another, while the original Dan Armstrongs (and the modded one being discussed here) have only a single pickup. Further, the original Dan Armstrong has an exchangeable pickup design - there were several options that came with the guitar and you could slide them in and out like modules. The un-modded copies usually have two blade singlecoils and a three way switch that selects between them (I'm not sure, but it might be that one of the pickups is rwrp so that the middle position is humbucking).
In any case, the two pickup config on the copies looks fantastic and I hope that you revert to that if only for the cool style - though I thought the pickups were dandy.
Price seems a little high for the modding of the body... but only a little.
very cool guitar to have on your radar!

Cool guitar. I've seen Dave Grohl play that before. I think his was a Dan Armstrong though.

I used to have an Ibanez one of these with the more proper looking headstock - played great, looked amazing, sounded terrible - no matter what the pickups were. Combination of heavy lucite vody and cheapish neck I think.
I would stick with the one pickup configuration and buy a really hot P90 or something. Mine had humbuckers and it stunk.

I don't know if the originals pups are humbuckers or single coils in HB size.
