A Forgotten Friend?...

So. This was 'returned' to me today. I don't remember buying, aquiring or even owning it, but apparently it's been 10 years :o It's been through a slew of friends and acquaintances I don't know and now arrived back at my door.

It's a partscaster of unknown quantities.

As it arrived, wired straight to jack like a king:

Body has been through a bit:

Now, it's not a Telecaster Custom, that's for sure:

Especially with a 22nd overhang  :

Image

A message to myself from the past?:

A look under the heel reveals all:

I polished up the body a bit:

Cleaned, oiled and polished:

Quick polish of the hardware:

Add 1x Kinman Pickup, a CTS 250K w/bleed, custom plate and cupcake, strings and a quick setup and we have lift off...

Sounds alright really. For a toploader.
Hell knows what I'm going to do with it. Stick a cheap Tonerider pickup in and send it back out into the ether?

I think I've worked out it's a Squier Affinity body. The routs match up.

Nice. Lately I’ve been really wanting an Esquire.

2 or 3 I think. I bought a few at a time.

Same. I put one on my main BMM Tele a few weeks back and they look great with a white/cream guard. As per above, I bought a few when I got the original one so had spares.

My first guitar was a black tele with a 1 ply white guard. I’ll always have a soft spot for that aesthetic.

Good re-score!

It's a strong look for sure. Up there with my favourites too for a tele (well, any guitar really).

Can't beat a tuxedo

In fact, I took a picture this morning of all my B&W 6 strings...

My main gigging guitar for many years was a black American Standard Tele with a white guard and a rosewood board.

That guitar could slice through any live mix.

I have to admit that is a very fine sticker addition. Credit where it’s due.
Also as I sink into late middle age it’s time to admit that I’m primarily a Tele guy. Hope I can still post here, I like offset bodies still.

I think just after enough years playing we just end up with what is essentially the best iteration of an electric guitar. Others are fun, and nice to have to hand... But the best sound kind a does come out that bridge pickup. I hate to admit it too.

And I approve of the sticker too. I can't remember if I put that on or someone else. I did have some ages ago.
