Bigsby prono mucho!

Post by nealescott » Mon Jul 28, 2008 2:45 am

here's my 2 bigsby guitars. didn't have many good photos of these two, so, inspired by all the excellent photgraphy on here recently, i decided to take advantage of the wonderful sunlight yesterday.

telecaster custom 72 with custom swamp ash body (and coil tap!)....

Fearless (my brand), mahogany jazzmaster, thin body, mini humbucker, bare knuckles p90 and bigbsy, tele neck. inspired by the neil young sound.

+1!  I've been interested in your work for awhile now.  Curious how much of it you make from scratch (you mentioned carving belly and arm contours with a spokeshave) versus what you purchase and finish in house.  Doesn't really matter either way, your guitars look super cool.

And I love that half of them have pinup girls on them!  :D :-*

So, what about your brand? Do you build guitars for others too?
Cool guitars, by the way!

That tele is exactly what my next tele project will be: B16, WRH in neck position, rosewood board.  Only difference would be to make it a thinline.  How's it sound and how do you like the B16?

I still have to finish mine. :P

I'm missing a very few part, and should be able to do the electronics... I really should stop procrastinating.

Damn you guys love those amber switch tips.

The semi-transparent pin up girl showing the grain is great. Much better than an opaque one would have been. The bulk of that tele bridge setup just asks for the guitar to be played.

Agreed.

I can't stand the usually ones. They look cool on old WWII planes but not on guitars.

This one looks cool. Transparent & monotone. Classy!

Nice stuff, Neale!  I love the Bigsby'd Tele.  The bridge on that one is soooo cool.  8)

BTW, Gordon: I'd love one of those Chet handles for my Bigsby Tele, but they're so expensive.  Looks great.

I really like both of those guitars, Neale. If I had to choose just one, I'd have to toss a coin - they both rock. Nice workmanship on the Jazzoid, too.

thanks!

i was really starting to get going a couple of years ago, and then i moved in with my girlfriend, and since then, i haven't really had the time, money or space to work on very much unfortunately.

i'm starting to get back into it now though, i still have the korinamaster to finish, which i started making amost 2 years ago  ???

Image

i usually make the bodies by hand, using hand tools and power tools, (and without templates and such) always use 2 pieces of ash, mahogany or korina, and then choose a neck, i love fender necks so much i would really love to just use them on all my guitars because i just don't know if i could make one as good as a fender, but i'll try it some day. i also do all the wiring and assembly and finishing myself too.

i have made a few tele style guitars for my friends in the past, but it's not exactly a production line just yet, i also have that problem where i get really attatched to whatever i make, and so i find it very hard to sell these creations.

I love the look of it - but what does korina actually sound like? And why not just use necks from USACG or other suppliers, finish them yourself, voilà?
You have some very good looking guitars there! :)

god question, and i would have to say, i don't know, haven't heard it yet. but i got some and it was just such beautiful wood i had to make something with it, hopefully it should sound good, i've been told by those who know that it's somewhere similar to mahogany tonally. i've got a pair of seymour duncan quarter pounders for this one, so i think it will probably ROCK.
