yes it is, its a 66 which is offset.the body is identical to a mustang.panoramic wrote: in the OP?

this is also a 66 and it clearly has an offset waste.
being offset has nothing to do with the body contours like the belly cut away or the arm cutaway which these don't have, its to do with the top side of the guitar not aligning with the bottom side which means its an offsett guitar.

Re: anyone play duo-sonics here?
I have an old duosonic (1958) and I think it's great. The short scale is a neat change of pace and I got used to it pretty fast. If you have larger hands, it's probably not a guitar you would enjoy playing. The width of the neck at the nut is pretty thin (A size) and the strings are very close together. I think the 1956-57 duosonics had the same nut width (B size) of a strat or tele; so if you can find a duosonic from that era, it will be easier to play.
I ordered mine from Rumbleseat music about 5 years ago and it was my main performance guitar from 2003-05. It needs a refret now and I don't have the money for that at this time.
What I really like about the short scale is that I can play stretched out chords that would be impossible for me to reach on a regular sized guitar.
The tone is really neat too. The neck pickup on mine is very clear, warm and a bit mellower than that of a strat or tele and this maybe because the pick up has aged and weakened a little over the past half century.
The lead pickup is positioned fairly close to the bridge so some people may think that its tone is thin or plinky (I think that's a new word). When I use the bridge pickup, I'll dial back the tone knob a little and sometimes I'll add some clean boost from a pedal.
My favorite sound is the middle position of the selector switch. I haven't really done my research, but I think the earlier duosonics are wired in a different way. The middle position is somewhat louder and thicker sounding. I may be wrong and I don't know much about series and parallel wiring, but the middle postion on my duosonic seems to have more output than each single pickup played individually.
