Re: Retarded Guitars
out if bored interest (ie I don't own one of these guitars) can someone tp me why the neck PUP is slanted and the bridge pup is straight.
The whole concept of the slanted PUP in the Bridge position is because at that location the amplitude of the vibrations is very small (compared to the neck position) and even more so for the bass strings. So to increase the gain in the out put the bridge PUP is slanted slightly forward allowing for increase output in the bass string response.
Having the neck PUP slanted makes no sense electrically/technically ... maybe from a visual point of view
Not having the Bridge PUP slanted makes even less sense and the bass response in that posi will be extremely small.

Re: Retarded Guitars
I think it's mainly aesthetic... the bridge pickup isn't all that close to the bridge on that bass (and a lot of basses) so the slanting is not required. The P bass pickup and XII pickups are sorta slanted in a way ... some people prefer P pickups the other way around (E and A half closer to the bridge) because of tone, maybe that's why they slanted the neck pickup here, though I think there'd be a minimal difference as it's pretty far in the middle.
Basically, I think they just did it for the looks.

Times change. Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky? Now it grows hair! We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Yeah, I think so too. I think it would look unbalanced with a straight p/u
