Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe
Fender Namm '07 is pretty underwhelming but I like the look of this, sort of.

replace the strat trem with a bigsby and the mirrored guard with anything that isn't a mirror I'd say that looks quite cool

Re: Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe
Anybody have any idea why Fender has given this guy THREE signature instruments?
It seems very strange to me. I didn't think he was that highy regarded...

Re: Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe
Apparently he's popular in the country world, and they kinda needed some more rockey guitars to appeal to the gibson audience. So John 5 seemed like a good idea

Because he uses teles..they're always the less cool sister of the strat for lots of players and beginners..not for me obviously!Ursoluno wrote: Anybody have any idea why Fender has given this guy THREE signature instruments?

Re: Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe
...Still weirded out by this guy getting three signature instruments.
Clapton has gotten one (not counting the ridiculously over-priced "Blackie" recreation). And this guy gets three.
If I were a betting man, I'd wager that Clapton is a teensy bit more popular in the eyes of most Fender users than John 5 is.
Have any of you ever seen one of his signature models for sale? I can't imagine who's buying them...
Not to say that they look like bad guitars! Any Telecaster with a Bigsby earns my respect.
I'm just confused, 'sall...

I frigging hate them both, I don't understand the significance of signature guitars, the majority of them are stock in some fangled colour and are not particularly inspiring, all are overpriced and most can be done EXACTLY the same for less than half the price.

Marketing is the reason.
I have always heard (and have no trouble believing) that the Tom DeLonge Signature Strat was the most popular signature guitar Fender has ever offered.

He was playing with Marilyn Manson for a few years. He was mainly a session player before that. He's really talented is definitely a great player though. Also, he is married to the VERY lovely Aria Giovannidaydreamdelay wrote: . no idea who this john 5 is and something tells me that's a good thing

Actually this is number 5, if you count the MIM J5 Telecaster, the Custom Artist J5 Telecaster, the Custom Artist J5 Bigsby Telecaster, and the J5 Acoustic:Ursoluno wrote: Anybody have any idea why Fender has given this guy THREE signature instruments?

Re: Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe
Marketing makes perfect sense in the case of the DeLonge model, sure. They sold them at a great price to a bunch of (likely) inexperienced guitarists. It was perfect for them.mjet260 wrote: Marketing is the reason.

That being said, I can't think of a single person who would shell out over $1,000 for a John 5 signature model. I know he's a technically profficient player, but I know of exactly ZERO guitarists who look up to him enough to buy a guitar with his name on it.
Maybe he has incriminating photos of Leo Fender and Freddy Tavares, or something...
Blasphemy, I know. I apologize. Leo and Freddy were kings among men.
