you know what they say, a guitar a day.... well no they don't say that! but good score anyways!
It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

Looks nice, I played a MIM 50's classic once and it looked really good. I wasn't satisfied with the sound though, it sounded thin and lifeless, I'd replace those pups if I were you.
you're not going to take the third saddle of now are you?

Looks lovely!
I have a very soft spot in my heart for Telecasters. There right up there with Jazzmasters for me.
May I suggest the addition of compensated brass saddles? They've worked wonders on my Telecaster Custom reissue.
Nice score!

Very nice Telecaster. Has anyone played the Koa Telecaster? What did you think?

Re: Yaaaaay! new guitar day!!
They put the pickups in WAAAAY too low, like neck almost flush with the PG low. I raised them up and now they bite, in a good way.Sauerkraut wrote: Looks nice, I played a MIM 50's classic once and it looked really good. As far as saddles go, nope, I now have songs in 4! six strung tunings. WHich makes it easier to justify all the guitars.
I prefer their older stuff.

Re: Koa Tele
I have played the Koa Tele. Stunning good looks, but the pickups are lacking. They have no bite. Too mellow... Of course, I am used to a Texas Special, or an SD Hot Stack. I want that twangy pop out of my Teles. Save the mellow for my JM!
Damn kids, get off my lawn!

You've got the right idea- raise the stock pickups up a bit and you've got that classic Tele bite and snarl at your fingertips. There is no need to swap out the pickups, but that's not to say that doing so isn't fun. I've got Lollars in my thinline and they're awesome. But the stock pup in my 50's Esquire can really bring the roar and the twang. The steel saddles will add to the twang and the bite, so if you're looking for that, keep 'em; if you want more rounded, bottom-heavy sounds, go for brass. Either way, you win.
