It's madness, I tell you!

Post by flatfiver » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:18 pm

I've been bitten by the ukulele bug. :o

:D

I want one of those little guys real bad!  Is it just me, or does it seem like there's been a recent resurgence of uke-a-mania?  Anybody around here play one?

I know george harrison was a huge fan of the uke and a great player.

he said the main problem being a uke fan/player was when ever he went to anybodies house with one (for a dinner party) no body else had one. so he had to play alone... in the end he started taking 2 ukes with him where ever he went.
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

a friend of mine wrote a musical called "hippos in the shower" pretty much completely on uke. I played bass and accordion in the band and had a small part as a Marine Biologist in it - it was pretty weird, but good fun.

The Magnetic Fields rock the uke, so I reckon it's all good.

That guy knows how to use one...  :)  And i think he may have something to do with a resurgence of the uke mania.

I love ukes, but mine got smashed.... I've been tempted to get a nice old one though (something not made of plywood.)

Ive also seriously considered attempting to make a Ukemaster (tiny jazzmaster style electric uke), precision bass pickups would be just to perfect!

This guy, Jacob Borshard, plays the uke pretty well. He's got 2 full albums on his site,  some of it's a little, "eh,"  but I think it works quite well. I found him from the other forum a long time ago. One of his friends posted a song he wrote about the fender custom colors.

Yeah he kinda does!  But John would add some cello and a mellotron and a couple of layers of guitar....

Right around 1:50 or so in that video really reminds me of Jeff Buckley.

Pretty impressive if you ask me.
