and in the end it's still just a first act.  :(
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

They are not just those wal mart crap guitars, these ones are actually made by good luthiers. I believe Scott French of Scott French Guitars worked for them, building these custom guitars.

Yes, but they are still pricey for what you can get from better makers.  You can get a completely tricked out Hamer, for example, with all of the bells and whistles, would bring you in at far less than that.  I'd much rather get a good vintage piece for that kind of dough.  There is absolutely ZERO resale on the First Act stuff from what I've heard.  Probably due to the association with the cheap crap.

This is exactly why Fender and Gibson use a separate brand name for their inexpensive equipment.

Oddly enough, I saw a Starcaster at Target a few weeks ago.

It had the full Fender headstock, instead of the cut-down "arrow" (ala Swinger) like the ones at the price club.

Didn't think it was worth mentioning at the time, but now that it's brought up...

Actually I think I saw that they'd changed the headstocks to the more normal Fender design.  Don't quote me on that, though.

Yep they changed it. I saw one at target a while back (the arrow head ones) and did a double take, they also had a few of those hello kitty strats and bronco basses there. Gibson also had some guitars there too, I think they were Lions and said "lic. by Gibson" on them though.

Reminds me of the headstock on the Wangcaster.
