My band had a gig booked, the bassist came down sick in the morning, so I ended up onstage on my own...

True story, one time a band I played drums in had a gig (outside our normal 'scene') where everyone else either got the date wrong or completely forgot. :fp: There wasn't enough time to find a replacement and none of the other bands wanted to go straight up at the starting time (you know, the crowd hadn't quite rolled in yet). So since I was set up anyway I opened with a bunch of our songs on drums by myself!

Was worth it - I got approached later by guys from one of the other bands at the venue when they wanted a new drummer.

IMHO A good drummer is the most important part of a band
