The Single-Pickup Guitar Thread. Post Yer Faves!
I haven't kept it a secret.
Ask anybody around here who knows me.
I like my guitars simple.
I like guitars with one... pickup.
And they gotta start right here:
The Fender Esquire. This epitomizes the Tele-fan credo of "Leo got it right the first time." Is there anything out there that cuts like a Tele bridge pickup? No way. Some people don't believe that the pull on the strings created by multiple pickups has any effect on a guitars' tone. I believe it. Less is more.
And to back that up:
A 1961 Gretsch 6119. Often guitar manufacturers design "student model" guitars with stripped-down electronics leading to gems like this one. Lord have mercy the day I find myself one of these with money in my hands.
What's that? You're more of a neck pickup user?
Well, here's a couple for ya:
Gibson EB-6. Yeah, it's a six-string bass with one PAF in the neck. I've never heard one of these, but I'm sure that's a good thing. The sound would probably make me turn into grandma's spaghetti.
I dunno the model of this EKO, but I don't need to. It's proof that a single neck pickup offset-inspired axe can look amazing.
And here's a few more following that theme:
And it's also no secret that I'm a HUGE Valco fan as well.
They may have taken the single pickup guitar a little more seriously than their competition back in their time. Take for example, a few of these:
National Newport, often known as the "Map Guitar".
A Supro Belmont.
A Supro Sahara 70.
English Tonemaster.
One for the Jazz guitarists, a National Glenwood.
And last, but certainly not least, my very own Supro White Holiday.
Still not convinced?
Maybe you're more of a Les Paul guy then:
How about one last one for the road:
Ah. Sweet, sweet guitar porn.
Now let's see some more!

I really like some of Harvesters single pickup stuff.
But...
I ordered one of these but the shop tried to bump the price by 300 so I backed out.

I'm a little surprised no-one has posted my personal favourite one pickup guitar, the Epiphone Casino E230T:

I've never actually played one, but:
