Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
I dig Stratos. I've been fancying some kinda cheapo version of coodercaster. I would like to have just neck and bridge pickups, one volume, one tone, thee way switch and maybe put somekinda filtertron on bridge and either leave the stock pickup (in this case I would need to buy singlecoil pickup) on neck or change it for something else. I've been thinking that these new Squiers would be great piece to work on. Wish it would be hardtail.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
Thanks!! What's really cool about Blackstrat is that the neck and body are an 1983 '57RI from Fullerton, and the pickguard assembly (PUPs, pots, caps, etc..) is from a '75 Strat. Oh, and the trem tip is from a brand-new American Original 50's Strat!
I love the all-black thing on the body and the maple neck sooooo much!

Maybe one of these could be a good mod platform for that kind of project.VPO wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 1:59 pmI dig Stratos. I've been fancying some kinda cheapo version of coodercaster. Just was thinking I dont have a strat and I have a lace red laying around... what's everyone's view on the squier bullets? The red sparkle is on sale, was thinking about decking the bridge and slapping the lace In

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
Thanks, TPD! Plays great, too. The neck is just the right amount of chunk. I do think the frets could use a bit of a dressing, tho'.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
When I was a child I dispised the strat just because I perceived it as "the standard", which I saw as "the devil" (again, I was a child XD). A couple of friends of mine had black and white strats and gosh I hated that design XD
Then, when I was 27, I bought a Strat Billy Corgan Signature and loved every single piece of it. The humbucker in single coil shape pickups were amazing. But I missed my other guitar's (a Jackson Dinky DK2S) floating tremolo (although I didn't like the floyd rose at all) and Sustainiac pickup.
So I asked a local "luthier" (actually more like an "assembler") if he could make a strat like mine, but with a floating tremolo (not the floyd rose) and the Sustainiac pickup, and that's been my guitar since 2010 (body and neck were Warmoth's). I changed the body in 2014 to a chambered, transparent red one (it was metallic grey, solid) and now I'm about to change the neck to a poly gloss finish one (the current one was satin, and after a few years I've realized I prefer the Fender poly gloss finish), and now it looks like this:
Looks awesome (to me, of course), sounds awesome and feels very light and comfortable. Once I get the new neck, I'll change the pickguard to a full black matte one.
Now I recently discovered the Jazzmaster (I mean, I already knew it, but I've been learning a lot about it in the last few weeks) and I'm making a custom one, which would be just like my Strat (same pickups, same colours, same maple neck unlike the JM), but with a Jazzmaster body and tremolo I feel like I'm giving a brother to my current guitar lol.
PS: to this day, though, I still hate the black body with white pickguard typical Strat XD To me, it's really boring. And I also dislike the typical Jazzmaster pearl pickguards too

Thank you! I love this guitar, it sounds great in just about every position.
They are Victory Gold Foils, you can find the shop on Reverb! They are excellent and priced way too low for how good they look and sound. I got the pickguard from them as well, and Wade, the owner, is a real nice guy to work with. I highly recommend the pickups if you want some great gold foils at a decent price.
