Thomas Guitars

Post by fuzzjunkie » Mon Sep 17, 2007 6:25 pm

Just got back from visiting Guitar Maniacs (they had a refin Fiesta Red 62 JM) and saw a display case full of these wild guitars that at first glance looked like 60s Burns knock-offs, but with a twisted country-psychedelic bent...anyone ever heard of Thomas Guitars?

found a photo gallery that includes some from the Guitar Maniacs collection...they had 2 of the Iron Cross and the Bass and there were several hollow body and a couple of really odd body shapes that aren't pictured...none were for sale:

I think this is the only archtop big box hollowbody I've ever seen that you might be able to legitimately play black metal with.  Based on looks anyway...

okay, I had to find out more about this guy Harvey Thomas...and his daughter built a myspace page in his memory...one of the pictures has him chomping on a cigar and strumming a Jazzmaster!

The best is his wife's headstone...it says "guitared to death!

I pulled a few pictures for those without a myspace account...Harvey seems to have been a character...here's the offset:

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

was mentioned in the guitar book with the nice offsets we were talking about a while back :)
