I like the way they look and I know Nels Cline plays some type of Danelectro 12 string, not this one though.
never played one myself, sorry.

I know nothing about them either, so I'm useless, but that is one of the coolest looking Danelectros I have ever seen.

That's a Jerry Jones. Awesome guitar!
Below is my old Dano DC-12. It sounded great...not necassarily in Ricky territory but a solid jangle machine. The fretboard was nice and wide and the gotoh bridge would intonate near perfectly. Just be sure to put a set of Pyramid's on it. Definitely worth owning...

man i wish i could do that. i change my strings about once a week on each guitar if i play them all equally. one set won't last me longer than two weeks and i like different 'ages' of strings on each guitar. (i like the Jag strings to be a little dirty, helps tone down the brightness)
i swear by D'Addario.

Years ago I tried a set of them.. and they all snapped really quick.,.
this was back when I used ultra lite guage..
I switched to medium.. where the third string is wound..
Though really I need to start changing strings more often..
I have some that almost look like they are about to rust.. haha

The Jerry Jones guitars that Nels uses are of much higher quality than the Dano ones. They use upgraded hardware/electronics and sometimes solid wood bodies. Sometimes I see good deals on them on ebay when the seller insists on calling them Danos when they are actually JJs but mostly JJs are roughly twice as expensive as Danos. Having played used versions of both side by side when I saw them in a store recently, I would take the Jerry Jones hands down over the Dano if I planned on using it more than 25% of the time. I can see how the Dano is great for occasional use - especially at that price, but I would try and fork out the extra dough for a JJ if I was at all serious about that guitar being used more than as a passing fancy.
