Here's my take on the Tele Custom.

I had a '74 Tele Deluxe that I sold several years ago and have missed that thing ever since. I decided I was going to recreate it but with a single coil configuration similar to a Tele Custom (I like the brighter Single Coil bridge sound). Pretty happy with how it turned out. This photo was taken before I completed all the wiring, added knobs and got her professionally setup. Used a Warmoth alder body and Musikraft neck (Warmoth doesn't do a bullet truss rod). She's now my #1 and I will NEVER part with it.

Wow! That's pretty much how I'd love mine too look.

I always thought the Custom would look cooler with the Strat headstock...

Love the big headstock! Love the middle position on a Tele Custom. Unlike any other guitar in the world.

Pat Travers did a real good job of making a Custom sing.

I'm actually surprised Fender hasn't released something like this before (either thru the "Custom" shop or some other line). I mean c'mon, how many different tele/strat variations can they pump out each year???

Total cost to build was around $700 + my time. I see alot of 70's Tele Custom/Deluxes selling in the 2-4k range and I would put the tone and playability of my Mongrel up against them anyday.

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.
