also, would it be better to replace the whole bridge, or just the saddles  on the squier trem?

do the squire strats have the vintage looking saddles  ?  my nephews affinity strat does ....

well if they do , i personally would fit the smoother AmStd / AmSe modern saddles.  (these were designed after jeff beck complained to fender that he was ripping his palm every time he used older vintage type saddles with "metal burrs" on them)
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...
