Gretsch G5135 Corvette

Post by Sauerkraut » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:37 am

My Telecaster and my Jazzmaster are my main guitars. I like the idea of having a guitar that's really different from these two. Last year I bumped into a '65 reissue Mustang and at 350 euro's I just couldn't let it get away. Of course, as I should have guessed, it's a great guitar, but not really very different from my Tele or JM.
So I've been thinking about selling it and buying something completely different. Now I happened to come across this Gretsch: http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/inde ... 2=&q=&st=1.

It's not exactly the prettiest guitar ever made, but I like it, and it'll definitely sound different. If I sell the Mustang I should be able to buy it without losing money. I heard good things about the cheaper Gretsch models. What do you think? Anyone played one?

I've had one of these for about 12 months and am very happy with it.
Pickups are great, lots of chrome too.
I only wish they'd had a few other colour options, wine / burgundy is really boring, like a million other SG's out there
Mine cost $600 AU including case.
Now if they'll only re-issue the Astrojet......

yeah, I wish they came in different colours too, there's a new signature model in green:

But I'd rather buy a standard Corvette.
