50 dollar bullet UPDATE =w=

Post by robroe » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:19 am

well not really.  hilarys' mom got me a 50 dollar gift card to Jackson Music Centre and i had 12 dollars left over from a AMEX gift card the cosmetic girls gave me at work for christmas.  this DBL bullet was just hanging on the wall in the corner.  they must have just got it a couple days ago.  the ticket was 99.  so i only payed aroud 50 bucks out of pocket for it.  SCORE.

but now i cant figure out what color it is.  its got more green tint to it then DBL but not enough in it to make it sonic blue.  its in some kind of candy coated distorted universe.

btw.  this is probably the darkest rosewood neck i own.  none of the frets stick out like they do on 800 dollar gibsons either.  yay!!!

Ive got an Mp3 of the two kids smashing these crap guitars they bought and it sounds sick theres bits of feedback ringing in and out it sounds nuts!

I was thinking about gettin a bullet or two they were selling it at my local guitar store for 150$ a bit of a rip i guess but i would have ruined it im talking paint chips. and then i would have gotten my university friend who is studying art to do something wild to it

Sure, if it plays well and sounds good then I don't see the point of smashing it no matter how cheap it is. That might have been ground-breaking for the Who, but a bit cliched these days .. (don't we have  thread on that somewhere?)

You didn't really say what it's like .. actually fun to play or is it one of these "hmm, needs new electrics, new pups, new hardware" type of projects? (not that they aren't fun too).

I've given up trying to see any sort of logic in recent Fender colours. For example the officially sonic blue Jagstang looks nothing like the 60s sonic blue to me, it looks very definitely daphne. But they're Fender so, hey, whatever they reckon.

i'm interested in your take on this guitar too: how do you like the bullet?

In particular, does it feel like a "real" guitar or is it toy-like?  How thick is the body?  I read online that it is 42mm thick... is that about right?  That is actually thicker than the 40mm on the Affinity series.  And MF indicates that it is basswod body... true?

THANKS!

its the same exact thickness as the mustang.  and that's 700 dollars worth of "real" guitar.

Hey rob, its not so many out of 1201 members.

I think its cool and who cares what it cost. One thing I think Fender does well is covering all the markets.

Don't let the comments bother you. I personally wouldn't mind tinkering with one. To me, you cant beat it for the price and you get the "real" headstock, unlike alot of chinese knockoffs.

Enjoy!

I didn't think people were being snobbish so much as just goofing.  Though, of course, Squiers do get unnecessary grief in general.  I can say that my main guitar is a Squier Deluxe Strat from 2005.  It sounds and plays great - I wouldn't ditch it for anything.

Same thickness as a Mustang = 1.5", where a standard Strat is 1.75" - I'm pretty sure on those figs, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
What do you think of the guitar?  How does it sound?  How does it feel?  That Daphne Blue (-esque) finish looks cool and if it is of reasonable quality, these could be a great bargain guitar.  I know I already turn people to Squier very often when they are looking for inexpensive guitars, and this might be yet another reason... and shell pink?!  fiesta red?!  Come on!  Fender ans Squier standards don't even come that cool.

I like it, too!  There are a few Strat haters around, and also guitar abusers.  To each their own... :)

Don't sweat the comments... Your guitar looks pretty cool to me.

Cool looking guitar imo. I would buy one in a heatbeat, I mean 50 Bucks for a brand new guitar, can it get any better?
To bad we are stuck with the Euro....Nowhere to be found such a good deals here  :(

I really Like the color. Sits somewhere between Dapne and Sonic Blue imo. I like it.
I mean lets face it, those guitars a pretty good bang for buck. I would perosnally never smash one of these. I had my share of old 60ties Japanse crap that make the Bullet look lik a Super instrument. People still pay more for those as they are "Vintage" Never mind the "snob factor"

I smashed a Cort once.  Don't think I'd smash anything in that color.  :?

I like the look of it a lot. Are you gonna do some mods to it? I have a friend who got a Squier Tom Delonge strat, and made a custom PG for it so now it's just one lace sensor in the neck, with no volume or tone controls - it's just straight to the jack and it sounds immense.
