Yup. Those three handles are there to be used - all of them!

okay so its been almost a week and the honeymoon isnt over but id like to update a few things:

loudness: oh my goodness. i didnt think 30 watts would be so loud. it is WAY louder than my bassman ten, and that amp was 50 watts!!! it stays clean way up on the dail, and you can keep it clean when its cranked with the volume knob (it loves when you use the volume knob) and how hard you strum. it is plenty loud for what i will be using it for, and then some.

overdrive: this is THE sound i have had in my head. this is the overdrive ive wanted to have for as long as ive been playing. thick, sinewy, dynamic, punchy, loud overdrive. i am past impressed on this one. it sounds amazing with humbuckers and i could keel over and die with the single coil tone. great. just amazing.

pedals: i've heard mixed reviews, but mine LOVES pedals. ive heard people say that it sucks with the big muff, but i think it sounds way better than it did with the bassman! fuzy and thick like it should be. my boost pedals work great and dont overdrive the input too much, and no noise! no weird hum or static or yuck.

effects loop: i didnt think i would be using it but i tried my echo park in the effects loop and it came alive. it has a switch so you can change from line level to instrument level, and it made the delays sound better. great job with the effects loop.

speakers: ive heard mixed reviews but so far so good. they arent quite broken in which is apparent in the high frequencies, but i do enjoy the sound. they dont fart out on the low end and they seem to be really efficient. my original plan was to swap one for a blue alnico, but well see. i may just buy some blue alnicos and make a 2x12 cab, or buy a vox v212bn 2x12 cab if i end up loving the wharfdale's.

weight: ok, this bitch is heavy. HEAVY. but i knew what i was getting into. im looking into getting a flight case with casters, or maybe installing casters on the bottom. we'll see, but some sort of rolling device is gonna be needed soon! however, the weight is testament to its sturdiness. and it is, except the tolex is real thin and nicks easy. big deal, this is a tool, not furniture.

features: the tremolo is cool, very vintagey, but im still gonna use a trem pedal for more versatility. however, i do forsee myself using the amps tremolo live and in the studio. the reverb is pretty unique, but i may swap the tank out for an accutronics long tank verb. nothing is set in stone yet, because i actually am intruiged by the built in reverb. its very spacious and ambient. i may keep it. channel linking is badass, the tone cut is VERY useful, and the effects loop and custom eq are great additions. awesome.

overall, im loving this amp. i was sad to be selling my bassman that i was so in love with, but after having the ac30, my ears have been opened tonally. i can finally stop struggling for the tone i want! and that, my friends, is what its all about.

ill post more pics and another review after the honeymoon and after ive played some shows and rehearsed with it. first rehearsal with it tomorrow!!

Nice review.

These amps are awesome. Playing with the bands I do I find it a bit quiet but thats my only complaint. Best tone out there for sure.

Looks like your amp has a bit of a prescription drug problem.

;D haha.

yeah i take old perscription bottles and fill them with rice and beans to make shakers for live shows and recording. its really easy and they sound awesome.

in unrelated news, my ac30 overdosed on ibuprofen.

actually, it is loud enough but our bass player has a 400 watt head and our drummer is a heavy hitter. Now that the other guitar player just bought a tiny terror maybe we can turn down a bit.

400 watt tube or SS?
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger
