Thanks for the kind words!!

I'm going to see if Curtis can make a JM-V (vintage specs) with a Tele copper base for the bridge, and a JM-V for the neck. ;)

Re: Jazzmaster project...'66 Replica UPD: Just ordered AVRI trem from Angela's!

Post by RumorsOFsurF » Wed Nov 21, 2007 12:08 am

I just pulled the trigger on an AVRI trem with arm and screws from Angela's.  I was bidding on a used unit, but I was outbid at $40 with 2 days left.

I figure the new one's worth the extra $20, plus I don't have to piss around with waiting until the end of the auction.

Now all I need is pickups from Curtis, and a mint pickguard.  I had better get that 'guard fast.  The brown tort is actually starting to grow on me!  Maybe I'll buy an Allparts tort, and see how I like it....

Unfortunately, I have to wait for some gigs so I can buy the pickups.  It will probably be mid-December...This thing's going too slow!  :(  :D

good calls all around Rumour! I wouldn't be able to settle for a CIJ trem with two AVRI guitars around either. +1 on angela.com, steve is great. i've ordered two mint guards and random hardware from him/them and they always are quick and professional. have you given any thought to a correct decal? that might be a fun little endeavor.

also if you don't want this to move any slower you better coffe those witch hats now. tone knob - 5 days and aged to perfection, volume knob - 3 weeks in coffee (no shit) and only 1/2 way there.

i have another set i may try the vol from that, cause this shit is ridiculous.

anyway, looks great!

Thanks!!  I'm on the fence on the coffee thing.  I want them to look aged, but I also want it to occur naturally.  We play a lot of five hour nights in smoky bars, so maybe a few months will age them!

I've only ordered from Angela's once before, and they were great.  I can't wait to get it!!  Also, hopefully I'll be able to buy those Novaks from enormous!

I just bought the Novaks and pots from enormous!!!!! 8)  This mini-project is almost done.  I can't wait to get all the parts and put it together!!

Thanks again, Josh!! ;)

Now all I need is a pickguard...It will be a little while, though.  I figure the thing will be gig-ready once I install the AVRI trem and Novaks, and that's good enough for me!

BTW: All the purchases and progress is being updated in the first post...Just for reference.

Re: JM projectesque...'66 Replica: Novaks and AVRI trem installed! Clips coming!!

Post by RumorsOFsurF » Fri Nov 30, 2007 5:51 pm

I received the Novaks and trem yesterday.  I installed the trem with no issues, but the wiring was a bitch!! My soldering iron sucks, so the solder joints are ugly.  I'll re-wire it soon, when I upgrade my iron.

I re-strung the guitar, and checked it out.  It works, but I haven't had a chance to really try 'er out good.  I've taken some pics, too.

I intend to record some clips tomorrow...Stay tuned!!

I didn't think anyone was paying attention!  ::)

I've written the last three posts! :-\

Alright, I'll work on those clips now.  The only reason I haven't already, is the feedback I'm getting from the bridge P90.  It's rather irritating.  I started a thread Here. :'(
