I don't see a reason for that to happen. I think the price the shop pays Fender for the purchase of instruments won't change. And even if MAP prices rise, shops will still give customers 'discount', just less than they do compared to MSRP prices nowadays. Or am I wrong?

All I can say is I love this forum and everyone on it. Always good for a laugh. I think this is a good move by Fender, I've never seen MSRP as the "advertised" price. Hopefully this does away with a lot of marketing gimmicks on eBay as well as guitar center. Inflated prices slashed to fake savings annoys me to no end. Also, the last mom pop shop I've seen that carries new gear just gave up and became a concert venue... I don't know what that means for the future but there are still plenty of used shops.
