I think this guy answered the question earlier:
egosheep wrote:Johnny has blank saddles on all of his personal Jags which are notched off-center to bring the string spacing in. I would also highly recommend the polished stainless switch tip that Staytrem sells, it feels nice and cool to the touch and is a big upgrade over the chromed plastic one. Enjoy your new Jag!
Most of his stage guitars have early versions of the solid stainless steel Staytrem with slightly narrower spacing. The current one's have been altered so the notches are no longer off centre like this one.

This was the first outing for Johnny's Sherwood Jag at a soundcheck last year. Post light relic, bridge change and signature removal. Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms 2013.

Also interesting that his Johnny Marr Jaguar doesn't have his signature.
He was on in session on BBC radio 2 on Friday, and his Jag got a mention (he was playing the sherwood). He explained its his signature guitar, but he removes the signature from his guitars as that would be too vain for him to be going about with his own signature on his guitars. Too true, respect to that.
I like Johnny Marr, and I also respect his view on signature guitars. It has me confused, though. If I like Johnny Marr and want to capture his sound and his essence, then I may be inclined to buy his signature guitar. But if he removes the signature from his, then I have to remove it from mine, to be more like him. So why put it on there in the first place.

More to the point, I love the guitar. I don't want to buy it because it is a signature model. I would consider taking the signature off, but now that he has, it looks like I am trying to be like him if I remove it. Also, what if this guitar becomes the "Les Paul" of this generation, and I have removed the signature.

Not Johnny's problem, but more mine - especially with signature guitars.

I think you're maybe worrying too much. Johnny's name is also stamped on the butt of the neck and in neck pocket on the body so it would be easily identifiable ATF.

As good as the guitar is, I doubt any other guitar in the world will attain the heights that the vintage Les Paul has attained.

If Blackguardbob is who I presume he is. Believe him, he know his onions where Johnny's guitars are concerned.

I've taken the decal off mine (which was previously his ^^) and replaced it with an offset contour slide, I think it looks better that way. I'm positive its a keeper for life, it does everything and is the only guitar I'm using at the moment.

I'm not surprised johnny changes bridges. I've had two Marr Jags (soon to receive my 3rd) and had problems with both standard bridges, most notably the screws loosening from the saddle on the G string.

For anyone who hasn't, I thoroughly recommend upgrading to the real staytrem. It's a quality piece of kit that actually does sort all the problems of a mustang bridge, and John is a pleasure to deal with.

Have a Staytrem on my KO, soon to go on my sherwood, and I agree. I never really had problems with the factory bridge, but it was definitely too wide and I greatly prefer it now. I wonder why they come from the factory with 52mm mustang bridges...don't they come from Staytrem anyway? That and the switch tip are the only things about these guitars that are not pretty much perfect right out the gate (well, I also replaced the pickup covers on my KO with white ones that match the guard). I'm curious about the Staytrem tip, but am really happy with the way a standard black tele switch looks.

And now for something completely different...is it possible to remove and save/reuse the water slide signature decal, or get a replacement? I would love to remove the sig on my sherwood as soon as I know it's a keeper, and maybe put an offset decal in its place, but I'm a scared...

Gswearengin, you'll not be able to preserve a water slide decal if you choose to remove it. There'll be nothing left and I doubt very much you'll be able to get one from Fender.

I've decided not to relic my Sherwood Green as its part of a short run and figured I'm best off keeping it original. If I manage to find a second hand one down the line I'll do a reluc job on that one.

One of the major problems with the early stock bridges was that the saddle screws sometimes vibrate loose and this will never happen with the Stayrem bridge.

Here are three of the five of JM's main stage guitars from The Messenger Tour. The KO is strung up in a Nashville tuning.
