I'm pretty sure script is '66, block is '67 (the only two years they made them, for some reason). I have a white '66 I need to take pictures of and do a post on.HorseyBoy wrote:I always wanted a white one or a red one but the sunburst is really nicely done. You'll notice the 'Yamaha' logo on the headstock is block letters (same as Gavanti's), not the script logo as shown in the catalogue. Antisymmetric's newly acquired 66 has the script logo.

i've got a photobomb of detailed shots and wordy superlatives on my SG-3 and original case (the case is some serious candy in itself) on this thread:

That's cool, a closeup of that zippered pouch! Mine's missing (I have the same case with blue interior), I'm going to get one made.

^ Oh, yeah - there's a pic of mine, with strap and in case, from the day I got it. I'd totally forgotten about that

It doesn't, and they branded everything multiple times. I'm going to have to see if I can find that picture of the other one with the same style case. Otherwise, I'll go back to the aftermarket theory.46346 wrote:whoa... does it say Yamaha anywhere on the case?
Edit: The other one I saw, I think, was at http://www.myrareguitars.com/affordableguitar.html most of the way down the page. From SurfGuitar101, it looks like it was in their inventory when Sonichris got his first SG-2. That could just be my guitar and case because it is a SB and the inventory is out of date, though if so, the arm and collet broke between when they had it and when I got it (you can see what looks like a complete arm in the photo), and I paid a lot less for it.

Re: The Unofficial OSG Yamaha SG-2/SG-3/SG-12 Thread
You all have no idea about me and Yamaha SG's..... It all started with a $175 Craigslist ad for "Old Yamaha Guitar" I bought it without knowing what it really was. No strings, and it had been sitting in a closet for years and years.
Here's the complete list of what I've had:
1 Sunburst SG-2 (the first one I got -still have it)
2 Red SG-2 (sold both because they remind me of Link Wray too much. I can't handle that kind of pressure while playing a guitar!)
1 Red SG-3 (sold)
1 White SG-2 (sold)
2 Sunburst SG-12 (sold both - should have kept one)
1 Red SG-12 (It's the one in the picture - pieced back together after some seriously questionable mods - here's a link to the whole story of that one. http://guitarz.blogspot.com/2012/01/tal ... dy-12.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
1 Sunburst SB-2 bass (still have it, its the cleanest vintage guitar I've ever seen, including the case, bag, strap, tools etc.)
This list doesn't include all SG-2a and 5a Samurai guitars....I may have a problem.

Re: The Unofficial OSG Yamaha SG-2/SG-3/SG-12 Thread
For future reference, here's the rhythm circuit switch in my '66 SG-2.
And a few less-than-great shots of the volume and tone controls. Had a hell of a time holding up the pickguard, working the camera, and keeping my shadow out of the shot, but they kind of show something...
The rhythm circuit works fine, and all the wiring was intact when she got here. It all looks to be completely original and unmolested in there. The controls are the same as a Jag: switch up activates the circuit and disconnects the regular controls, wheel closest to the neck is for volume, other wheel for tone.
If anyone has circuit and switch pics for a functional SG-3, I'd love to see them!
Hope to get the other gut shots up tomorrow.
