Re: The Unofficial OSG 60s Yamaha SG Thread
Here's pictures of the SG-Samurai guitars I've owned -
Re-issue SG-300 Sold
'69 SG-2a with cool original Middle Eastern issued hardshell case - sold to fund another SG
Before and after '68 SG-5a that I re-did - the red was a non-original color re-fin that was poorly done - original color was blue. Sold to fund something or another....
Before, after, and current pictures of an SG-?a that I bought and re-did years ago - one of the tougher projects I've ever done. Still own it - waaay too much work to let it go. http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 1&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I never knew you had owned so many Yamahas! This is Jake(SG101), FYI.

Should mention my SG-2 is currently getting re-fretted with Stew-Mac 152 wire, which measures .092 x .048. The Yammy frets on there measured around .080 x .023. No height at all…

That blue SG-5a is stunning! Just when I thought it was safe to say, 'No more Yamahas'...

Re: The Unofficial OSG 60s Yamaha SG Thread
Hey everyone, been lurking for a while and have really appreciated the info available on this forum. Great guitars on this thread and thought I would share my SG-12...
I really love this one, and as others have said, the white/mint is a great color combo. Unfortunately she was converted to a 6-string long before I got her and based on the logo, it looks like the headstock was refinished as well.
Anyway, if I can ever find correct tuners and tailpiece, maybe I'll convert her back to a 12! Here she is alongside some vintage cousins - my SG-600 and SL-700S.

Hmm, good point, let me check... Yep, it's an offset:
Ok, now let's get back to business and see some more of those crooked SGs...

Re: The Unofficial OSG 60s Yamaha SG Thread
So here's a 60s SG question: how many different variations of that brilliant trem arm have y'all encountered on these (different tips,materials, diameters, collet ends)?

Re: The Unofficial OSG 60s Yamaha SG Thread
I've read that on some (I think early) Yammy SGs the arm was removable but I'm not sure that's right. I know when I got my SG-2 I expected the arm to come out, like a Jazzmaster, and me and the dude in the store in Yokohama (who spoke very little English) stood around scratching our heads wondering what the problem was. It was only when I saw the case (with a wear mark where the trem arm sits) that I realised it was meant to stay on.Gavanti wrote:So here's a 60s SG question: how many different variations of that brilliant trem arm have y'all encountered on these (different tips,materials, diameters, collet ends)?
