Any Custom Shop Bass VI RI news?
Did anyone here get one yet? I've seen two posts elsewhere that the scale length may in fact be the correct 30" and not the 30.3" on the spec sheet. One post was from someone who bought one and measured and remeasured it himself, and I'm not sure what the source was of the other one. Might be the same guy.
I was planning on putting together a USACG model this fall, but they said they wont have the 4 switch/Jaguar pup body programmed in till the new year at the earliest. To be honest, even that date sounded like a real long shot. So I've decided to go ahead and order a Custom Shop RI, since I found a good deal and I'm not too worked up over the scale issue. Hopefully it turns out to have just been a misprint in the specs, but I'll be happy either way. I guess it came down to Jag pups/4th switch vs possibly different scale.
I was told my Bass VI will definitely arrive within the month, and possibly any day now. I'll report when I get it. But if anyone here has one, I'd love to hear about it.

How much are these retailing for? I'd love to have one, but I'd probably just rather build my own.

Dealers definitely have a lot of wiggle room on these, but it'll still end up quite a bit more than building one. I've heard/seen quotes anywhere from ~2200 to ~2700.StevenO wrote: How much are these retailing for? I'd love to have one, but I'd probably just rather build my own.

Yeah, 2200 is the lowest quote I've gotten. Lots cheaper to build your own, especially if you can do finishes and paint.

For collectabilty, buying a CS VI will definetly appreciate much more in time compared to a USCG model.

Yeah, resale value was definitely a factor in the decision.
Well, someone at the other place just got theirs and first reported the scale lenth to be 767 mm, as on the spec sheet. When I asked him to double check measuring from the nut to the 12th fret and doubling, he came back with 760 mm, or 29.9". Not exactly accurate, but it sure looks like the scale length is probably 30" on these.

I got a quote on one a little over a year ago (prior to the CS release). Base list price was $3,995 then. I was thinking a nice subtle (ha ha!) metalflake, but the price started slipping into original Bass VI territory quickly.

Cmathes
Checkout Meadowbrook inventions for thier polyester jewels (sparkle)
They have a website but call an ask them for a sample of just those Jewels.
That product is very reflective and brilliant
Thats the comapnys product the Customshop used on my Jag. Some great colors. I just got the new catalog from them. I was about to order another Masterbuilt and I thought I better check out if they had any new colors. Lo and behold they did.
I was going to go with what is called a Brilliant Western Blue or Brilliant Navy.
Now I am looking at a Brilliant Lime or Brilliant Purple

Re: Any Custom Shop Bass VI RI news?
yeah, it's a big relief to put that scale issue behind us...
i still wish Fender would explain that they made a typo in the spec sheet, just copying the old MIJ scale length on it's spec sheet
or something...
if i had the money, i'd totally order a CS VI now
as i understood it, USA CG lost their computer programmer... a while ago...
and the lack of demand for the 4switch VI has put it on the back burner
allowing them to find someone new who can handle the job
or the new guy to work his way up to it

they've had my pickguard for ages now...

Re: Any Custom Shop Bass VI RI news?
That makes sense if they lost their programmer.
As for your pickguard, they told me that even if they managed to get the body programmed by the new year, they couldnt cut the pickguard for a long time. Seems like they are swamped right now.
And I would have ordered the CS VI long ago if it wasnt for the scale issue. It took me a while to decided to order one anyway, and now hopefully it's a non issue.

Re: Any Custom Shop Bass VI RI news?
Tony Dudzik at www.pickguardian.com copied my NOS pickguard
i had a few made
one of which is at USA CG
it was slightly warped but lines up really well
except the bridge post openings
i've had to file those on every one...
a pickguardian guard will cost more than what USA CG would have charged... but it's readily available...
Mike Matera (btw, where is HE???) had a USA CG body with binding made and used his MIJ pickguard as a template to make the 4switch/Jaguar pickup routs himself
i'm thinking about doing that for my first 4switch project...
