I told a friend I was working on a JM build, and he asked if I'd like to borrow his all original '63 Jazzmaster to get some ideas... Life is full of hard decisions. Here's some photos for your enjoyment. Check out the crazy birdseye on the neck and headstock!
It plays and sounds like an absolute dream, except for some slight buzzing issues and dirty electronics, neither of which you hear when playing. My friend said he hasn't played it in a few years, seeing as he has a pretty crazy collection of vintage Fenders and Gibsons. After playing it, I'm pretty sure my new build will be needing vintage style JM pickups.

That neck is so thoroughly riddled with The Birdseye that it needs to be quarantined!
Nice friend.

Since this thread is already derailed--my birds eyes are nowhere near as crazy as the ones posted, but here's the birds eyes on my '69 CAR JM:
and my '59 JM

Thanks for the pics everyone! And Natar, tell your friend that his Jazzmaster is incredible and that birdseye is off the charts! I wonder if necks like these (and flame) were just the luck of the draw?
