i think gibson is just making up excuses not to finish their guitars...seriously:
"new 'faded series' guitars give you the look and of a broken-in guitar for half the price"
:-\ WTF, that's like the fender custom shop trying to sell me a $2000 relic strat that has dings and scratches in it

Re: A WARNING TO GIBSON LOVERS
Gibson has found a way to sell guitars cheaper with the faded series. Apparently lots of time and labor is needed to finish the paint job on a standard Gibson. So, Gibson offers a less expensive way to purchase one of their guitars if you can live with a less flashy appearance. It is really no different than what Fender is doing with the Highway one series. What confuses me about the Hwy 1's is the fact that the price keeps increasing on them. When they first came out, I believe they were around $600, they are now in the $750 range. The price margin between a HWY 1 and a for real deal American standard is getting closer and closer, I think the Am. Stds are around $950. 600 for a hwy 1 would be a great deal, but 750 brings me too close to American Std. prices to really consider them, in that price bracket I would just save a bit more and get an Am. Std. I feel like Fender is missing the boat on offering an affordable USA made guitar, Gibson has an answer with the $400 Melody Maker which is priced at the same range as most quality imported guitars.

Re: A WARNING TO GIBSON LOVERS
It like the Deisel clothing company selling "distressed" jeans for £150. Basically jeans with holes in.5L1V3R wrote: :-\ WTF, that's like the fender custom shop trying to sell me a $2000 relic strat that has dings and scratches in it
Its just that these aren't just any holes. They're specially made thus warranting the higher price tag....

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I would like to have a HWY 1 Tele, except for those damn jumbo frets.

I'd still take one over an American Standard. I don't think those are any better than a higher end MIM.
I played one of the $400 MMs and I thought it was shit...IMO of course. I'd rather have a MIM Standard Tele for that price. 2X the guitar, IMO.Gibson has an answer with the $400 Melody Maker which is priced at the same range as most quality imported guitars.

Re: A WARNING TO GIBSON LOVERS
Im no tele guy..
but I ABed a Squier Tele at $200 with an american tele fro $1200..
and honestly the Squier was better.. to me
There were neither plugged in.. just the neck feel and action..
The USA model might have been set up ass.. but youd think theyd set up the
more expensive model right over a throwawy..

I don't like the AM Std. series at all. For the cost of a new one, a person could easily buy a minty used AVRI '62 Custom or '52 RI.

Just thats it was $1000 more and felt worst than $200 version..
(I was in a big Pixies phase and I figured if I shaved my head gained another 50 lbs and bought a Tele id be brilliant)

Re: A WARNING TO GIBSON LOVERS
I agree. I've been considering a natural strat with a black pickguard, and the MIM FSR strat is $440 where as the american in natural is like $1100.RumorsOFsurF wrote: I don't like the AM Std. series at all. I like MIMs a lot. $160 for some Nocaster pickups, and you're set!
