I stand corrected. Damn Telecasters!

thanks! I almost feel like taking a bow hehe The guitar is awesome although I'm a little afraid to play it because it's mint and obviously collectible.

I recently almost sold my Marr Jag, partly because I wasn't keen on the KO finish, and partly because I somehow decided I really wanted a Tele again after playing one in a shop. I got as far as advertising, and then.....
I went back into my local city and played a good few more AV Teles (52, 58 and 64) over the course of an afternoon, then got home and played the Marr and came to the realisation that it does *everything* a Tele does and a lot more. I can get that twang out of the bridge pickup, and it's got a really mellow (almost Jazzmaster-like) neck pickup, but with the trem, series setting and additional filters, it's a lot more versatile than any stock Tele.
My Marr is resonant and plays really, *really* great now that I've added a neck shim, got a proper StayTrem bridge on and have filed the nut slots for the flat wound 12s I've strung her up with. I'd recommend the shim, StayTrem and flatwounds to anyone.
About the only advantage an AV Tele might have is that they ten to run lighter (my Marr is about 8.5 lb), but that doesn't really make much of a difference to me.
I'll just have to see if I can grow to love the burnt-orange finish. Or get it refin'd at some stage.
I'm keeping the Marr.

Metallic KO is one of those colours that can really grab you when you first see it but it might wear on you later. The solution is clearly to buy more guitars.

I've just joined the club. A used white on white popped up at my local GC a few weeks ago and I've been stalking it to see if they'd be flexible on price. I got it for a relatively good deal and now I get to try it out. Mine weighs in at 8lbs, which I was excited about. I've played some heavy Jags and wanted something comfortable. Mine has the high e about to fall off the fretboard, so I'm considering the Staytrem and I think I'll also be swapping out the switch-tip post-haste because the chrome one just doesn't work for me. Otherwise, I'm really pleased to have gotten a stock guitar that's been so thoroughly thought through.

Quick question re: the JMJ bridge. Is there any reason folks aren't just slotting the e string's saddle more inward to get the string spacing further away from the edge of the fretboard? I'm not a luthier, so I'm unsure if there's perhaps a technical reason to avoid this, but it seems like it's the only proper issue with the bridge on mine that needs to be sorted out. If this is possible to do, is there any extra advantage to the Staytrem?

The trem on the Marr Jag is basically, if not exactly, like the Staytrem, so you shouldn't need to replace that. The issue of the high e being to close to the edge of the board may require a new nut, but I've resolved that same issue on Fenders by simply pulling the neck up. Just loosen the neck bolts a little, then pull the towards the upper horn of the guitar.

This isssue is not with the nut, it's with the string spacing on the bridge. A real Staytrem bridge is spaced at 52 mm. The bridge on the Marr Jaguar is approximately 55 mm. The string spacing on most Marr Jaguars is fine at the nut. The strings start to fall off higher up the fretboard.
Staytrem makes a vibrato bar replacement not an actual vibrato.

There was a previous post about new colors for 2016. A member here "heard" that black was coming in 2016. Any verification of this or any other color being released?

Johnny can keep that one to himself and share the Sherwood.
