2 glorious old gold guards I used to have, first the '59, then the '58:

The thread has taken a crazy turn...it was meant to be current, but hell with it, let's post past JMs too! 8)

These are beautiful! The middle one looks great from this photo, is there any reason you want to refinish it? Or do you just prefer black? 8)

^^^ thank you! The 65 looks much better in pics. In person you can see it's just a rough natural finish, not too pretty nor interesting, with varnish drippings here and there. So yeah, I'm debating between black or Ice blue metallic. It shall be glorious

'62 Slab board refinished by Danocaster in black. 100% original minus tuners and bridge and refin. This one has a Staytrem in the mail.

Late '59 Jazzmaster. About as stock as I'll ever get it....

Image

'59 neck, body (refin), pots & switches.
Single line Klusons.
Late '59 nitro guard (11 holes) & shielding.
Neckplate serial # along bottom, not top.
'59 neck pickup, '62 bridge pickup.
Repro knobs, trem & switch tips.
Repro G 7 G case (not period correct).
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

1962 factory LPBM Jazzmaster with A neck. I bought it from the original owner. Sold last year.

Down to just these offsets. My regular players.

Jazzmaster is an early '64 (DEC 63 neck).
Knew this was it the minute I picked it up. Lightweight, strong, balanced pickups, perfect wear and a beautiful feeling chunky 63 neck.
Image

Love the heart-shaped wear on the back.

Long Gone...
FEB 66 D+B (My first vintage JM. Super lightweight and great neck).
Image

AUG 64 JM. Bad black refin, blank headstock. Other than cosmetics and missing case, this JM had all original parts and a really perfect neck. I still miss this one from time to time even though I always preferred my SB 64.
Image

Then I had it refin'd... Still wish I went with a bolder custom color in hindsight. But refining it actually helped me let go and went towards my 63 Jag which I love even more, so it all worked out in the end.
