Nash JM-63 owners
Excuse another new post, but there doesn't seem to be any information here for the Nash JM-63 jazzmaster.
I'd love the thoughts of those who own/have owned a Nash and whether they are good/better option than an AV Fender JM. If you've even only played a Nash JM, I'd love you opinion and maybe why you didn't buy one (except lack of funds of course!).
Thank you

There's some good information here:

I'd go as far as saying 'required reading' for anyone actually considering one of those partscasters.

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
Ya know I really wanted a Nash pretty bad at one time. I then was pointed to that thread. It definitly made me change my mind. But since I've actually had the opportunity to play a hand full at my local guitar shop (Only strats and teles), I wouldn't mind having one. It probably wouldn't be my first choice because that's not where my GAS lies for now but I have to say that each one felt Great and played awesome in the hand. They all sounded great as well with the exception of one strat which sounded thin. Some of their relic jobs are terribly overdone, but I think that they have gotten a bit better over the last few years. The price is hard to justify for a new one because there are better quality alternatives. But I've seen them floating around used for 1100-1300ish. Which seems like a fair buy, but not exactly a bargain. It all depends on what you like though.

Hmmm.... as an owner of one in LPB I can say that it sounds pretty darn wonderful! I changed the pick up covers to a nice aged cream colour from the dirty white that it came with - in taking off the pickguard the build is pretty good - I have no complaints. pros - fantastic aged neck - killer lollar pick ups - cons - its a little heavier than I expected, not too much though - and also the headstock could have been painted LPB - but I can do that in the future of course!
I'll post a photo when I have a moment!

So maybe the JM-63 isn't what they do well?
Or that JM was made on a bad day? Friday pm holidays guitar?
Either way, it's disappointing for sure...

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
I have a trusted and knowledgeable friend who swears his Nash Tele is the best Tele he's ever owned, and he's owned a lot of good ones. Every time Nash comes up, I think of this friend. But then this friend doesn't have anything good to say about any other model that Nash has assembled.JKR wrote:So maybe the JM-63 isn't what they do well?

My experience noodling on Nashes in shops (Jazzmasters, Teles, P and J basses) would lead me to believe that his work is somewhere between unexceptional and poor. My more extensive time playing, setting up, and repairing one of his Strats convinced me that he is a careless fraud.
Maybe this would be a better illustration: If you decided to start building or at least assembling your own guitars with little knowledge beforehand, your first couple of attempts would probably expose your understandable ignorance of some of the many details that can be botched on a guitar, especially in aligning components correctly. So imagine your first few guitars will have a few screw holes misplaced, or a bridge misaligned, or a rout a few mm off, or a few frets not quite seated, or you lost a small part and had to replace it with a mismatched make-do part from the drawer, and maybe you sprayed it a little too wet, and also the finish didn't cure right... Afterwards, you would look at the mistakes you've made, do some research, and be more careful not to do it again.
Well, Nash guitars all feel like early, botched attempts to me, and he's had hundreds of opportunities to learn not to make those mistakes. Is he unaware or is he cynical? Either way, each time someone buys one of his guitars, he becomes that much more likely to continue the same sloppy assembly. I reckon his output is tiny compared to big factories pumping out tens of thousands of disposable instruments, but his marketing and apparent attitude make him seem more nefarious to me, somehow.
Argh, I told myself a long time ago I wouldn't waste my time dissing Nash again, but then I think of that damn Strat and how shitty it was and it makes me so mad! And the time I grabbed one of his Jazzmasters off the wall at the shop and the frets actually cut a chunk of skin out of my left index finger! AAARGH!

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
I played one a bit in a store for a while. There was nothing about it that made me think it was any better than anything. It's just another guitar at best.
Frankly, I found it to be of worse quality than what Fender makes.
I'm not into the whole concept of it, though. Supposedly "handmade" Fenders that are actually just parts assembled and then "relic'd" to look old but have modern and in a lot cases cheap hardware on them don't do shit for me. Fuck Nash guitars.

If it's just allparts anyway, why not just buy a body and neck from them and throw it down the stairs a few times?

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
Didn't Nash start making relic pedals, too?
Edit: these things. I think that's the same Nash, at least that's how I remember it being.

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
But I like my JM-63!!! this threads a bit one sided - not sure how all those that have never played a Nash Jm-63 can be so negative? I haver several Jazzmasters, Partscasters and Offsets that I have built myself - the JM-63 may not be my go to guitar everytime but it is still a fine guitar!DesmondWafers wrote:If it's just allparts anyway, why not just buy a body and neck from them and throw it down the stairs a few times?

The linked thread is 5 years old. Does that still reflect the quality of his stuff now?

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
Does anyone have an up to date, 1st hand review?
It will likely have to be pretty stellar to repair what's been written here already....but for the sake of balance????
