Filter-tron pickups
Sorry for this stupid question but are filter-tron pickups humbuckers?

yap, they are

but more "clear" sound... hard to describe....
(caution, there are some singlecoils looking similar to filtertrons)

They're humbuckers, but they have much less output than the standard PAF style 'buckers. In terms of loudness, they're closer to single coils than regular humbuckers. They're sweeter and twangier than PAF-style buckers. Less midrange - PAFs tend to have a big spike in the upper mids.
