i like these new boxes from EHX. but, the way the old memory man looked was way better.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
i have a SMMH and the box is ok for it as its a new release but putting old effects in new enclosures is just bad imo.
what next? a classic BMP in a large xo enclosure? for fucks sake leave em be.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
I don't see why it matters at all. Having the same effect in a smaller package seems pretty cool to me. I hate it when people go on about the aesthetics of pedals - why does it matter at all? Looks are undoubtedly the least important thing when it comes to effects pedals - it's all about the functionality and durability. In the end you're just gonna be stepping all over the thing anyway...

true the guts is what counts but aesthetics still play a part in human choice.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
I think it's ridiculous to bring aesthetics into pedal choices. I don't give a damn about what any of my pedals look like - all I care about is that they sound good and that they're hard-wearing enough to withstand the abuse of countless gigs. It's not like guitars, where aesthetics definitely do come into the equation, because the pedals are on the floor and very rarely visibe.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
I'm with chris for the aestethic thing..the worst thing maybe is that MM will probabily have a PC style components like on the littleBM and all the XO pedals,,that sucks IMO, the nice thing of old EHX pedals is that they're almost industructible as they are 100% reilable,...I think beyond the nicer enclosure there's something badder, they are making pedals of cheaper quality..machine crafted from the beginning..look at how they connect the footswitch for example..totally shit! (IMO)

Re: EHX Memory Man?
I'm pretty sure that things fake. Didn't that come out last year around April fools day?
+1 on not changing the case though. Personally I like a pedal to make a statement even when turned off. I love those massive pedals from the late 60's and 70's. If you dropped one of those on your foot you'd know it. If you change the case, then change/modify the name.

Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
maybe for most sure, but im obsessed with effects, i make em and collect em so aesthetics is a big part of it for me. it is secondary to the circuit which i find the most interesting but its still relevant to me.chrisjedijane wrote: I think it's ridiculous to bring aesthetics into pedal choices.........
plus theres the other factor "SMD" which isnt as easy to mod,its not hard its just fiddly where as TH (thru hole components) isnt fiddly.
plus of all enclosures of all companys EH folded enclosures are by far my favorite, size is irrelevant to me.
i can see these new XO being good for people with pedal boards but i dont use pedal boards i just scatter them.

i think it could be fake too as mike mathews said "we have enough bbd chips left for around 2 years, after that the DMM will be no more" or something to that effect.pullover wrote: I'm pretty sure that things fake. Didn't that come out last year around April fools day?

Re: EHX Memory Man?
wow guys. interesting to see what you all made of it!
i don't know.. just not sure myself. Although it is stupid, i do prefer the old one. I'd be more into it if they actually added some features (ie expresssion pedal input) instead of just rehousing the old one..
plus, although the new enclosure is perhaps more durable, i agree with -2n3904- the circuit is practically unservicable if they have used smd (im a ham fisted moron - cant deal with small parts!)
Time to flip a coin!. Or y'know, just get the MXR in april, which has(slightly) more delay time and is 1/3 the size?

Re: EHX Memory Man?
Im all for thiss one. The DMM is the best sounding analog delay pedal around, or at least in recent production. Size DOES matter to me, and SMD vs through hole doesnt make a shit of difference to me. I want a little memory man. What on earht owuld i want to change if it sounds like the big one?
Also I specifically asked EHX for this one when I sent in my last warranty card

I prefer their older stuff.

Re: EHX Memory Man?
great, now we can all blame aen as he asked for it!L0L
i specifically asked for "continue to reissue the classics in the ORIGINAL enclosures" but i doubt the will.
in the end i think the only fx that will be in folded steel is the HOG, 2880, small clone, small stone, BMP, POG and flanger hoax. i may have forgoten a few.
