That looks good !
Tell us about the tailpiece
does it hold tune ok ?
How is the intonation ?
Is that the same tailpiece they tried on the original Les Paul ?
Enquiring minds, relentless quest for knowledge etc etc

The tailpiece sure looks like the one on early LP's.
I'm sure the intonation would be improved with a tuneomatic but honestly It works totally fine for me.

Darn, there's no forward strap button on this guitar.
I really wish someone else had put one on years ago.
Feels a little painful using the drill on this guitar when it's survived unmolested for 62 years

Re: NGD Gibson ES-225
Pretty much the same as my old ES125T. I replaced the white strap button with a nickel one, held in place with a cavity wall plug so I didn't damage the wood. I then carefully drilled a pilot hole at the heel & installed another nickel one there too. No biggy.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Yeah it's not a big job, I just feel a little bad about it.
Well has to be done I guess.

Careful. You'll probably knock £5 off the re-sale value

I wouldn't do it and would use a lace behind the nut instead, but that's just me.
Gorgeous guitar! I've been wanting one for long, though I'd probably be satisfied with an ES125.

Yeah, right? Just use an acoustic guitar strap.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

That's what I was thinking as well.
That thing is an absolute beauty. P90 must sound so nice. I love the binding it looks so great on the cutaway

That's a real beauty.
I had an ES330T a while back, which is a single pickup ES330 with the middle mounted P90. It had a very unique tone, though I did find that the pickup was exactly where I tended to pick and could get in the way at times.
But that is really really lovely. I love old Gibson bursts like these.
Belated Happy NGD!!

Re: NGD Gibson ES-225
Thanks,
I thought I might be annoyed by the pickup placement, but actually i don't think about it at all.
I rarely use a pick though, so that may be why.
