Well, I like the neck! It's better than this abomination anyway....

The body shape itself looks good to me, but yeah the Tele look really doesn't fit.
Get a bigger pickguard, slap a trem on it (fill out some of that empty space), get a better color scheme and I'd like it a lot.

I really don't like it. I really wonder who makes decisions at Fender... They should bring back the Toronado instead. Or a real Marauder.

Re: New Fender Meteora offset at NAMM?
Aye, it's like something from that (blue) Rondo (a la turk) lot. Design is all about synergy, this is into cryptozoology and as you say just looks thrown together by someone in their maw's basement sometime in 2008 before the Squeers landed and ragged trousered offset lovers were buying anything with a wonky waist, even that shite that was bitten by a shark. I think we hit peak offset some time ago and now we're heading into some truly idiotic terrain but never mind...there's one born every minute.
Let's face it, these are going to end up blown out for a farthing at some online thingy and even then they look about as enticing as an offical Margaret Thatcher talking sex doll.
I just heard a thing on the radio about crotchless jeans (spookily as I was patching the crotch of my jeans) and if you sported one of these with crotchless jeans you could get two of your annual style crime allowances in one easy bite.

I like it. Retro-futuristic space age weirdness. Nitro and good pickups? I'd play that.
Not wild about the butterscotch, though. I'd take mine in Ocean Turq or something, or maybe a ruddy '70s chocolate sunburst.

Re: New Fender Meteora offset at NAMM?
A Fender dealer told me they’re going to be doing Teles with strat pickups, Strats with Tele pickups, etc. in the same price range as the AmPros.
Some of it could be cool if it was MIM or something, but that’s a lot of money for a “gimmicky” guitar. I’m just hoping they put out something with (real) Wide Range Pickups.

Come on.... They can make this but still can't do any kind of electric XII?..... No way this sells better than a XII reissue.

Re: New Fender Meteora offset at NAMM?
All of the vintage reissue stuff is going to be moved to Custom Shop. They’ll do “50s” and “60s” guitars that are loosely based on vintage models (but with 9.5 radius necks) , but they won’t be doing vintage reissues based on specific years like they do now—which is super lame. I really doubt we’ll ever get an electric XII non-Custom Shop.N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 4:43 amCome on.... They can make this but still can't do any kind of electric XII?..... Re: New Fender Meteora offset at NAMM?
I actually don't hate this.
The lines are odd - and I'm not a fan of the F in the pickguard - but I applaud Fender trying something new.
My issue with this isn't with the design or shape - it's that they're recycled the Telecaster pickups/config for this thing. It's basically a weird shaped Telecaster.
What would have been interesting would have been to try something new with the pickups/config or general layout of it. After all the Jazzmaster's pickups were something entirely new in '58 - same with the Jaguar, the XII, the Coronado and the WRHB in various models.
It does remind me of the Bilt El Hombre (which is, I believe, a homage of sorts to some of the weird Asian guitars of the '60s).
I'm actually a fan of Fender's designs as designs as much as guitars - the Telecaster would have looked bizarre in 1950/51 - not to mention the Strat in '54! I think the Jazzmaster was the best designed guitar Fender ever made - in terms of both form and function. I even thought that some of the CBS designs (like the revamped Tele Custom or the Starcaster) were beautiful.
Having said all that I wonder how much scope there is for a modern equivalent of the Jazzmaster or Telecaster to come out as a new Fender design: There are practical limitations on how new any design can look given the needs of a guitar (a long neck attached to a body with a bridge) without being outlandish just for the sake of being outlandish ...

That's the sort of lazy ass stuff I was expecting!
That StraTele looks like some cheap knock off guitar from the '90s - as for the Telerat ... no. Just. No.
