Pickup covers
Now that I've installed some new pickups and the covers don't fit, I'm in the market for some new covers.
Allparts seem to be the only place that sells plain white, but I don't know if they fit US or JP covers. Does anyone know? I have an email in to them but they're taking their sweet time getting back to me and I have Pickup Cover Acquisition Syndrome.
More generally, though, I know Fender USA only makes covers in parchment. But the dressing room also has them in black. Who sells black pickup covers, or any other color? I might want to try black at some point.
Thanks...

Re: Pickup covers
My dad's Allparts white covers fit SDs, if that helps. I think SD's are US-sized.

Re: Pickup covers
That actually does help - my pickups are SD. Just placed my order with Allparts.Ryan wrote: My dad's Allparts white covers fit SDs, if that helps. I think SD's are US-sized.
I'll check out GPR for black ones - hadn't seen those there before.

Re: Pickup covers
Argh, got my Allparts covers, no fit! The pickups themselves fit inside a little better than the CIJ covers, but the pole pieces still don't line up with the holes.
So, I'm gonna need to get some US covers, which means replacing all my knobs and tips too in order to match.
I have one simple (I hope) question. Fender only make JM pickup covers in "aged white", which is a pretty heavy aging that I don't like at all. They also sell knobs in "aged white" but also in "parchment", which is a lighter aging that I'd much prefer. Now, Warmoth sell pickup covers they claim to be "parchment". So my question is, are these *really* parchment? Or are they just the same Fender aged white covers everyone else sells? The photo on their web site seems a bit dark for what Fender calls "parchment". (http://www.warmoth.com/catalog/product_ ... s_id=25104)
You can see Fender's "parchment" vs. "aged white" in the top two products in this photo:

I know it's only $9 for the set (plus s/h), but it was $20 total for my Allparts covers that I can't use... if I get another bad set, I'll be up near $40 total on pickup covers, plus the cost of replacing the knobs and tips to match now, which is another $20 or so. It's starting to add up.

Re: Pickup covers
Thanks, but I was asking about the color. How dark are the Warmoths in terms of the aging? I'm hoping they're relatively light.mcjt wrote: well as i said a few lines higher on this page, i have warmoth covers which fit my SD's perfectly

Re: Pickup covers
ah. i am a pragmatic person. i saw you spoke of the fit and the colour, and i stuck on fit, which would be more important to me.....
hell, i don't know how Warmoth's aging colour compares to others... i would recommend you stick to Fender RI, so you can work with ONE supplier, FMIC. you can't rely on all the aftermarket manufacturers' products......
i can just show you this: the warmoth covers against a fender RI guard with FENDER WHITE RI STRAT KNOBS. at least this way you have a Fender reference..... now i have the warmoths with Fender Mint guard and parchment knobs... but it's 21h on a saturday night and i've had to much wine to be taking photos....

Re: Pickup covers
Thanks, that helps... I will probably try the Warmoth covers, I don't care if they *exactly* match the Fender parchment knobs, just that they're close enough. I really just want to avoid having to go "aged white" for everything, which is practically yellow to my eyes and is just not gonna match my CIJ mint green guard (their mint green isn't like a faded yellow, more like a pastel lime). It'd just look like puke. The Warmoths don't look *too* dark in your photo, though they're obviously off white.
btw I didn't ask about fit because I just assumed Warmoth covers would fit US Duncans, since they sell both on the same page of their site. It was Allparts that I wasn't sure about, and now I know they're really intended for CIJ pickups.
