No idea if it's any good, but Ceriatone does a clone. You don't get the cosmetics though, which is a big part of the appeal for me.

Unrelated, but if I ever have some money to burn on something dumb I kinda want a custom LOWATT badge for my VHT Special 6 head.

I eyed these off for a while but, being in Australia, I chose the local and cheaper option and got a 45w Valvetone Hilite.

Do it. Don't look, leap.
I did the same, but solid state using a Leeds pedal and power amp. Big huge cleans, as loud as I want them to be. No regrets, because there's nothing there to second guess.
Mynameisjonas has been rocking a ceriatone for a decade, he just posted the other day. He'd be a good one to ask about those. All I know is that shipping a tube amp from Malaysia has gotta suck.

I think this one is mighty appealing.

I have had reeves and several hi tones, awesome amps! I'm currently selling a hitone jp30 head and that thing stays clean and is louder than my 50 watt Marshall!

I saw that one before, that dude sounds like the Live at Leeds even with the shitty YouTube recording. $1800 is a lot. Hoping to stay at around $1400-$1500 range.
I have looked at Ceriatones before, but id prefer the military spec wiring of the ones above for hum reasons only. The Hitone seems to be the sloppier out of all 3.
Theres a 30 watt Hi-tone on feebay right now. Going for 1k ending soon, not sure though if 30 watts will get me the badass cleans I want. Id think that with a very efficient speaker, i should be able to get pretty close.
Science amps don't look as cool, they don't even have prices posted but thanks for posting suggestions.

If you can pick up a hitone for a grand do it!!! I owned real hiwatts that didn't sound as good. I could spew all my useless knowledge of the evolution of the companies but the reeves family only has affiliation with hitone(son is a partner) reeves amps has a sorted tail with the name but the family has nothing to do with that company

Sent you a PM, never responded?
I hadn't seen your comment, when i posted about the feebay one going for 1k.
I put a bid for $1100 and it bumped it up t $1025, this was a lead 30 but then asked the seller to cancel it, as I'd prefer the DR one. It did end up selling for 1k with one bid only. The seller sent me a demo, but i really don't think this one sounds that good.
It was funny because i placed the bid. (bad me) and then looked up a demo. I didn't like the sound that much, so immediately emailed the seller to ask if it was okay to cancel... Then he responded , that he would cancel no problem but to please check the video of the actual amp i would be getting.
It happened to be the same video that prompted me to email and ask to cancel in the first place.

Old OSG member Kilgore has a Reeves and iirc spoke highly of it. They look significantly better cosmetically than the HI-Tone to me and seem to look like a higher quality item, at least in photos. I looked them up though and they are expensive new, so hopefully secondhand ones are more affordable.

Incredible amps, all of them. Have tried a Reeves but not a Hi-Tone, I agree the aesthetics are spot on.
I agree, once you've tried one you can't really go back. I love the clean sound too but there's something amazing about having that master volume, setting it at where it will just break up if you start playing harder, then hitting it with a good nasty fuzz. If you listen to Live at Leeds and hear all those fantastic shimmering sounds from the guitar volume being dialled back, and then the grind and growl when its on full, then the Super Fuzz on top...perfect.
I borrowed a Custom 100 for a gig once it and has affected me deeply ever since. It was so muscular yet so shimmering at the same time, and the noise floor was under the basement, buried deep underground. Beautiful.
You used to be able to get them for £700 in UK in the 90s. Not so much any more. I had a Custom 50 when I was a kid, didn't really appreciate it - apparently it turned out to be a Music Ground fake, a good fake though.
