Why is everyone so mad about a Squier Starcaster, there seems to be a few flaring around second hand for not much more than higher end Squier money. That should be pretty achievable.
A Squier Johnny Marr would literally be the best selling guitar ever!

I'd be happy if they added some new colors to the VM line, like lake placid blue, turquoise, etc.
I'd also like to see a VM Jazzblaster w/ tremolo, rhythm circuit, etc.

A Jagmaster with a Jag/JM tremolo or stoptail would probably sell pretty well. Still waiting for a Squier XII - even a Venus XII reissue would be welcome at this point....in Seafoam Green, of course.

Re: What Will Fender/Squier Do Next?
I’ll add to the Squier XII hype.
It seems the Squier Bass VI has been around long enough for it to be profitable for them. I love mine! I think a XII would do equally well, I’d definitely get it.
The magic with Squier making the VI & XII is that many people would want one if they are offered in that $400-$500 range because they are very unique instruments that people want to experiment with...but they don’t want to drop $4000-$6000 for a vintage because it probably won’t be their main guitar.
At least that’s the case with me. I want them in my studio for recording but I can’t drop vintage money on something I’ll really only use for some interesting textures.
However, if it was your main instrument I’m sure you’d seek out a solid vintage. I probably would too. Or better yet, since I’m not a vintage guy, I’d do a custom shop!

Can you clarify this? I'm not sure what appointments on a Fender Jaguar would catagorise it as ahead of its time.higgsblossom wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 10:53 amOn the other hand... why modernize if there already is a guitar that is still ahead of its time? The Jaguar is still a pretty modern beast.

Re: What Will Fender/Squier Do Next?
Again: I wanted to make a joke about the Jaguar already being a very versatile guitar, with pretty much all the things a Fender can offer. And about the possibility of modernizing by going all digital. That was about it, but now that I read your answers I think the joke wasn't that funny after all... Sorry...

Re: What Will Fender/Squier Do Next?
fender starts making duo sonics and hard tail mustangs with the proper looking bridge on it like I put together (this one's a squier bullet mustang with a toronado plate and telecaster saddles) . ITS NOT HARD FENDER. DUH. IT FITS RIGHT IN THE REGULAR MUSTANG PICKGUARDS THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE 1000'S OF LAYING AROUND
also 1 pickup jagstang / musicmaster hybrids.

I wouldn't be against this idea that is pretty much the most common requests I see people making about the Squier Johnny Marr model. But the only thing is, for a few hundred more you can get a used Fender Marr pretty easily. Also the problem with making a Squier version is how much they'd be sacrificing with it making it affordable.Iheartreverb wrote: ↑Thu May 10, 2018 1:25 pmWhy is everyone so mad about a Squier Starcaster, there seems to be a few flaring around second hand for not much more than higher end Squier money. A Squier Johnny Marr would literally be the best selling guitar ever!
1) The Bareknuckles are pretty distinct sounding Jaguar pickups. Replacing them with a Duncan Designed copy of them or something would totally lose that sound you get from the Bareknuckles IMO
2) Other things they would have to consider is the specific neck shape and body contour featured on the Marr model. How much could they do staying in the budget of production?
3) Easy, and cheap replication would obviously be the 4-way switch and two HP filters on the upper plate in lieu of the Rhythm circuit. That would be easy to do, and making it at least aesthetically the Marr Squier model.
This could be a good idea to do all this minus the Bareknuckles considering a lot of people get turned off by them anyhow. Stick 65 AV pickups in there and bam... golden.

Yeah I’d just assume they’d do number three with some new colors. Boom cool enough.

New colours for the VM Jags and Jazzmasters would be nice... I'd be quite grateful

Actually, this would suffice for me as well lol. Most people I think would flock to the new colors even if it didn't have any other upgradesLuiz Spindola wrote: ↑Fri May 11, 2018 12:15 pmNew colours for the VM Jags and Jazzmasters would be nice... I'd be quite grateful

Re: What Will Fender/Squier Do Next?
I know I'm probably in the wrong Forum for this not so unusual Parts Bin Guitar but I'd really like to see Fender produce an American Special Thinline Telecaster with the same Traditional Specs as the American Special Solid Body Thinline Telecaster. Make mine Aged Olympic White, Maple Neck. If Fender really wants to make the next Guitar I want to buy add an F logo B-5 Bigsby, make it about 7 to 7 1/2 lbs & include a Hard Case.
You would think with all the Tele's they make it would already exist! Strangely, it doesn't? Lots of them with weird Specs though?
Offer it for $1299.00 or less & I'm first in line!

I won't buy a squier unless it has wi fi hotspot capabilities.
