Funny you guys should mention the goldtops with wraparound bridges.... I just got this one a couple of days ago. It's a copy, but I think it's really nice, it sounds really good and plays very well!!

It's a chinese knockoff......  :-[

I know, I know... But I wanted to try one for myself before dismissing them... And it's surprisingly good! The rumours have it that they are made in the factory now building Epiphones for Gibson. All the hardware and electronics are Epiphone quality. It is not made of plywood, and it feels pretty solid actually... and the headstock, well, it looks good!   ::)

Now please, I want to make very clear that I didn't buy it to mislead anyone, and I'm not trying to pass it as a real Gibson..  I just wanted to try one for myself and I did it consciously knowing this is not Gibson-quality..... So please, don't throw rocks too hard at me...  :(

That's an absolute beauty!

I've been working in a guitar shop a little lately and they have a Tokai singlecut LP junior with one p90 and a wraparound for half price at the moment - If I had any money at all I'd be severely tempted!

they are definitely on the expensive side...it has taken me 15 years to almost be in the position to buy one.

just a handful more weeks and I'll be ready to pull the trigger on a nice Custom :)

Oh, and in case nobody knew who that guy was, that's Stephen Malkmus!  :)

Here's Wata, just because I think she's beautiful and any girl who can play a Les Paul into a couple Big Muffs into a Orange full stack deserves my respect.

Not to knock anyone's choice of guitar, but I always think the wraparound bridges make the guitar look a little unbalanced, so much room aft of the bridge .. plus I can never get my head around a bridge on an electric which doesn't allow for individual string intonation.

Having said that, when I bought my R6 there was a historic LP Jr in the store with a wraparound and that played beautifully and sounded great.

The wraparound was my second choice, but they didn't have the goldtop with p90's and TOM in stock when I placed my order so I went with this one.

And you are right, as far as intonation is concerned, it's really a pain in the neck to get it right with the wraparound bridge.. Mine is really close to being right now, and it's probably the best I can get out of it, but it took forever to adjust, and it's not perfect..... By chance, the bridge they put on these is pre-compensated with little saddles for each string, whereas the originals were just a straight bar... I can't imagine how those were!!..

I don't agree on the looks part though, I think the wraparound looks great... and the space left behind is just perfect for a Bigsby, which I will probably add in the near future.    ;)

Ah now, that's different .. good plan!

Even with just the wraparound it still looks better than a JM with just a strat-type bridge IMO .. acres of wasted space in those.
