I have 9 strats of various years and configurations ... there are all different, but just like every Tele has a "sound" , so do strats.. even hardtails.
I actually wish I did have a hard tail.. but I have no more room for anything these days

.
If this
P O O P -ster strat is what it takes to get you into the club, then great go for it.
You gotta start somewhere
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

I hate this strat, but I love strats

You should def get a strat, but which one is very much a matter of taste.

Dude, does it work for you? Get it. Hardtail Strats are awesome! They have a little more of that Tele spank than normal Strats. If it feels good, and you like it, sell something else, get this. I also have finally come to terms with my own love/hate relationship with Strats and i've accepted the fact that i love them and they rule.
Where did you end of falling on this one?

Heading back on my lunch today to see if it’s on the floor yet. I’ve only tried it with 3 strings unplugged so far. It felt good, but could be a dogs breakfast once I plug it in.
I’ll update later.

I love Strats, and I am about to get my Legacy (G&Ls Strat) finally all up and running. They are great guitars, right? Super comfortable, sound great, filled with inspiring sounds you've heard any number of places. What's not to like?
I can't wait to get mine all together finally.

Still not on the floor, so no strat today.
Checked the frets out a bit closer, a refret will be in its near future, so I’ll be taking that into consideration.

Are we sure about this one? I don't know if it's a great price or what, but there certainly are other 1979 Strats out there that I would quicker get than this one.

That's a nice guitar right there. I don't know that I would come off $2k for it, but anyway. If it was my birth year and I had $2k, maybe.

I’d love the black one, it’s goregeous. It’s also $2600 CDN plus shipping and duties vs $800 CDN.
Id also want to try one first before buying. Every other 79 strat I’ve tried (mind you only a half dozen or so) has been a dog. The vintage store near me currently has a 79 and 78 for not terrible prices ($1800 CDN for all original in good shape). Both weigh a ton and sound dead. I know I like the neck and weight on this one.
This guy is just the right year, right feel, for the right price.

Yeah! All of a sudden I'm liking the brown quite a bit more.
That's a good price, if I'm converting the Canadian pesos to dollars right in my head. You should get it. At that price, if it plays well, and you like it, bring it home and don't look back.

As soon as it’s strung up and it goes on the main floor. Barring no major issues of course.

Wait, the poocaster is $800cdn? Buy that thing, give it a fret job and a setup! You can sell up if you don’t like it. But I bet you’ll like it.

I have a nice Strat I almost never play. A Strat is a great instrument for recording when you need to fit in a precise place in a mix, and it’s a classic sound for better or worse.
A Mexi-Strat would have been fine for my situation. I just happened to stumble on something cooler.
