Truth. Best guitar I've played yet was a beat to shit sunburst 73 in AyrGuitar (local store). They usually just have cheap stuff but once in a while they get in some nice vintage stuff. I was trying out a Roland JC 77 and chose the strat to try it with. That strat on the neck pickup into that JC was the best I've heard myself. Started my hunt for a new amp.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:20 pmi dont get along with strat bodies anymore but i had a squier strat i liked the pickups/neck on so i just stuck em on a jagmaster body

for me, it was a 76 that someone had refinned in ford signal orange with a mini humbucker in the neck, no middle pickup and a very overwound strat pickup in the bridge.SadFuzz wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 9:16 amTruth. Those Greco's are incredible. For the price of a MIM or even a high-end Squier, you can get something that is probably better than a 70s Fender (IMO).

Re: I suddenly think I need a Strat. Somebody talk me out of it
I didn’t get along with Strats for a long time. Loved how they looked but never bonded with it... until a Silver Lonestar strat I found at guitar center. It sounded awesome (had three mini him buckets) and was comfortable to play. Since then I have picked up..... a “few” more. There is a good reason there are so many of them and copies. They are comfortable to play and have a variety of sounds. I did learn I am a humbucker guy so that might have lead to it taking so long to get into strats. I just don’t like how single coils sound when I play them.

why should anyone talk any other out of a Strat for Fender sake?
are you sure about the color though?

Re: I suddenly think I need a Strat. Somebody talk me out of it
I’m late to the thread but yes, you need a Strat. Over the years I’ve come to believe that Strats are the closest to a “perfect” electric guitar that Fender ever built. My logic here is that Teles are solid as hell and versatile as anything, but have too many hard edges, no vibrato, and are often quite heavy. Offset models are curvy, contoured to perfection, and have amazing vibratos, but aren’t always super user-friendly (I shouldn’t have to explain) and aren’t the most versatile things out there. Strats are almost the perfect middle ground, in my mind.
I doubt everyone here will agree with me, but that’s okay my ‘92 MIJ Squier Strat is my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned, and it absolutely won’t be the last Strat I own!

Re: I suddenly think I need a Strat. Somebody talk me out of it
I should also add that I used to be very anti-Strat, hated them because of boring-ass blooz lawyers and players like Clapton and Ywngie (no idea how to spell that guy’s name and I refuse to google it, how did I do?), it’s only been over the past four or five years that I’ve come around. There’s a reason so many people play them.
I love Teles and offsets, but if I had to choose only one Fender model to ever play again, it would be the Stratocaster.

I used to be in the same camp. I did used to own an 80’s MIJ strat with that Fender branded locking trem thing. I actually liked it, but hated dealing with snapping strings mid set and having to get out the allen keys to restring it.Tehz_ wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 1:47 pmI should also add that I used to be very anti-Strat, hated them because of boring-ass blooz lawyers and players like Clapton and Ywngie (no idea how to spell that guy’s name and I refuse to google it, how did I do?), it’s only been over the past four or five years that I’ve come around. It sounded similar to my MIJ JM, so out it went, and I haven’t had a strat in close to 20 years until now.
Now everything I play sounds like Stevie Ray. I’m off to buy a poncho.
