Re: Song of the Day Thread
Hawkwind - Orgone Accumulator I'm a child of glam I cannot lie, I'll do the hokey cokey till I die! One of the few non shite live elpees.
Way back in the very early 80's I was known as the guy to go to if you wanted something painted on the back of yer biker jacket and I used this service to help pay for records and I did this 'Space Ritual' for one of the longhairs at my school and he gave me the elpee home to work from* and I REALLY didn't like the look of it since all I knew was Silver Machine, the fact that they were involved with Michael Moorcock and feared there would be much rocking contained within (there is but it's shuttlecok doen yer breeks free). These days I own a lot of Hawkwind and I'd put them very nearly on a par with the great Kosmische Germans and loudly salute their cosmik chug.
D
*week later he was back because his maw went mental at Stacia's nipples and wanted her in a 'leotard at least' but I negotiated just painting in her hair crossing her breasts to hide the nipple and of course I surcharged him for it. i painted loads of biker jackets but that's the one I'd have back to put in a frame if I could find it. I'd no wear it though, leaving aside that biker jackets are increasingly for middle aged women, it was painted on a generic biker, not a Lewis or something good.

DVA Damas - Nightshade two minutes of mean n cool 'billy.
Love - Everybody's Gotta Live (Real to Real version) An absoluety storming way to close out a wedding playlist, if you aren't linking arms with yer' auntie Vi and kicking up yer heels there's something wrong with you.
The Slow Engineer - At Midnight I will Take Your Soul really interesting album that plots a dotted line between The Normal style tech primitism and a saw toothed revision of early WARP sounds. Another belting Polytechnic Youth release.
The Slow Engineer - Where Comes The Dark
Chromatics - Time Rider while I essentially think this (file only) song is going through the motions and that they are becoming something of a parody of themselves , it's still quite a pleasant way to spend 5 minutes.
Chasms - The Mirage most played album at Castle Shadowplay this week by a mile being played constantly on multiple systems. Cool live version here with offset Jagwar content if you care about such things.
Full set (mainly the last record); Chasms live on PressureDrop.tv though as my old mum would have said; 'he'll have someone's eye out with that earring'.

Fucking brilliant band. I was introduced to them by a friend who is otherwise all 70s/80s rock, but he loves Hawkwind body and soul.shadowplay wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:56 amHawkwind - Orgone Accumulator I'm a child of glam I cannot lie, I'll do the hokey cokey till I die! He plays in a band that otherwise does 70s rock covers, but he has slipped in a few Hawkwind songs over the years, at least one a set (NOT Silver Machine) and it never fails to confuse the audience.

The High Llamas - Cookie Bay ( with Laetitia Sadier & Mary Hansen) this wee single is most lovely and warms the edges of a driech morning.

Pauk-Mumije, from Bosnia, apparently. One of the few cases where YouTube recommends something that I both like and haven’t heard before.

Re: Song of the Day Thread
Buried under a bit of a mountain of mightily comprehensive Vinyl on Demand releases by Clock DVA and SPK since they started up again so I'm going simple pushing the sleeves of my jacket up and busting some dansemoves to B-Movie.
B-Movie - Nowhere Girl (original Dead Good Records seven inch) from 80
B-Movie - Nowhere Girl (Version) (rerecorded 12" version on Some Bizarre) 1982
Had this on a wee bit today too, it's the latest 10 inch on Folklore Tapes; The Queen of the Well (A Faerie Tale)
